So how do people noramly pay for a horse, is it in cash? I have only brought horse that have been under £1000 and have always paid in cash

But what if the horse was £3000 or £10 000! thats alot of cash to get out of the bank? but i know if i was selling i dot think i would be happy with a cheque for that amount of money from someone i didnt know?

So how did everyone pay for there horse?

I've always done a bank transfer but I have only ever bought from friends and had the horses in my possession on loan already. Not sure how I'd feel transferring over £10,000 before I had picked up the horse.

I've only ever paid cash.

I think dealers or producers who are used to buying and selling would be happy to take payment by other means, but I would say for most private sellers and buyers it's more comfortable for both if the cash is handed over at the same time the horse is delivered or collected.

If you're getting a big sum of money out from your bank, you need to call them to arrange it about a week before you need it, and then you'll have to take your passport and some other ID with you when you collect it from them.

Cash, always. But the most expensive was 4k. It took us a few days, and a few cards, to get that out of the little hole in the wall bank :)
I don't think Id feel comfotable, or able to carry, with 10k+ in my pocket but then I'd never need a horse that expensive.

Online banking for my current one.
Cash for the mare (although it was scary walking around with the grand total of £1 in my pocket LOL :D)

I paid for my last one with paypal but you would have to really trust the vendor. Other than that it has been cheque or cash. Most expensive I've sold (around 30 years ago) was £8K and that was a transfer but rare in those days and my branch rang me up when it was done! imagine
