Paying to park at yard?

Just been told by a friend that a large livery yard near us charges £1 per day for liveries to park their cars !!!!

Iv never heard of any livery yards doing this before.
Im on a DIY yard and pay a small amount to keep our trailer there, but not to park the car

Several yards round us charge £5 week for lorry/trailer parking but not cars!

I certainly wouldn't be on a yard which charges for car parking, I have never known a yard do this for cars.

are you sure its not for 4x4's / towing vehicles? I used to have an old defender for towing that I kept at the yard with the trailer attached as that is all I used it for?

Are you sure it's not for cars which are left at the yard all day while the owners go out somewhere? I discovered 3 cars left at my place with no keys, when the owners decided to go away for the weekend with friends. They decided the yard would be far more secure than their own drives so just left them there. I was not impressed as it made things difficult for parking with other liveries and made getting trailers in and out a bit difficult. I now insist that cars are not left all day - unless they are people taking their trailers/ lorries out in which case the cars have to be left in the space their trailers/ lorries have vacated. I would now charge if anyone left their car for a day to go out for a day trip with friends who picked them up from the yard. I am a livery yard - not a car park.
