If you were leaving your yard, had given two weeks' notice but were going mid week, would you pay for the full week or just the days you were there?

For the sake of a few quid, I'd probably pay for the full week just for the goodwill, but I guess there is no legal reason if full notice is given, to pay the full week.
You could ask the YO if you're unsure and would rather not risk offence.

Assuming you pay weekly and there's no contract in place stating notice periods, then a weeks notice is enough and so in your circumstances I'd pay only for the ten (or however many) days I was there.

You need to pay during the notice period as given in your contract (or agreed), should you choose to leave before the end of that time then you are free to do so, but you would still need to pay in full for the length of notice.

If the two weeks notice fulfils your contractual obligation and you have given 2 weeks notice which expires mid-week, then you would only pay up until the date you leave whether mid-week or at a weekend.

It's not clear from your post whether leaving mid-week is leaving earlier than your 2 week notice:confused:

Ahh, just pay up to when your notice ends, or when you actually leave, which ever is the later date.
Best of luck with the move!

Hi yes that's when the notice ends no contract but was going to pay the full week (ending Sunday)but somebody said I was being a mug for doing that

No contract, umm, more fool the YO then :(

The decent thing is to pay for the full week :)

I wonder if the person who said that you were a mug for doing so would feel the same if they were a YO ;)

Good Luck at the new place :)

Thanks yes I thought this too, I think I'd rather pay for the week, although I'm probably not obliged to, for the sake of a few pounds I'd rather leave with a good reputation :)

I would pay the full week I think, just incase you ever need to come back or just ask the yard owner if you have to pay the full week or up to notice date.

As others have said pay the full week & leave on good terms, specialy if you needed to go back at any time. Good luck with the move :)

If it was me I would ask the YO. Unless you are moving a long way you want to make sure you have either the opportunity to return if necessary, or that your current YO will be able to tell any future YO that you are reliable and prompt with payment. You may be surprised how many YO's talk to each other.
