Hello! I have got my pc b test coming up in just over a month, i dont really feel ready for it and dont feel the pc have given us enough support. So iam starting to stress a bit!

So does anyone know the main sort of questions that almost always come up in the test?

Also on the riding, what are they likely to look for, and what are some common things to fail on?

any advice or help much appriticated!!

IMHO:

Go on the PC website and check that you have covered in training all that is mentioned on the B test page and that you have read all the books recommended properly.

If you think you are seriously underprepared and that is the consensus of the group you are working with then go to the traning organiser (not the training provider) and let them know of your worries. Be sure it's not just your nerves getting to you though before you take that step.

preparation is needed to pass the B test, its the first i think in PC which really needs you to revise, attend training sessions and have an instructor who is willing to support you through the process

I did mine a few years ago now but main things i remember are
Riding - multiple horses, you need to be prepared and practices at riding others. Expected to ride well on the flat on your own horse, jump SJ and XC at a reasonable height. Showing ability to control, ride lines, secure seat and leg etc
Other horse ride on flat to good standard, show that you have a brain and are riding the horse you are on, show excercises to improve horses way of going and deliver a good verbal assessment of the horse.
Ride in double bridle or reins and be effective with them

Conformation - be able to review a horse and pick out key conformational points - both good and bad
Know anatomy of horse - some skeletal and muscular information
Understanding of feet and shoes, be able to name examples of shoes and their uses
Understand good layout and design of a yard, pick out good and bad points of location you are being examined in

I was very lucky with mine and had an excellent instuctor, studied hard and rode well so passed. I did hours of stable managment, practise and reading, planned to ride and assess horses most weekends to prepare through the summer.

Good luck - i think its a real achievement to pass

Also not sure what age you are, but most dont recommend you take until 15 or above

I passed my B test today and the topics they were hot on were Feeding, Fittening, Lameness, First Aid, Tack, Bitting, Farriers and shoes and Conformation.

Also, have you got your B test working notebook? It is VERY useful as it contains everything you need to know and is very nicely set out. I believe it is by Tish Adams! PM me if you want to know anything else!
