I recall thinking when I read a post a week or two ago what a nice idea is was for a few HHO'ers to get together at the PC Championships at Draycott Manor next month and now I'm looking for an invite as A and the wonderful Saffy were part of the team who won the PC Open Area SJ today and to cap that they won the Open Individual as well with a treble clear!
After a flat performance at RHS Saffy has only been out once since then when she was 2nd in the 1.15 but we then hit a big problem as locum farrier brought in by my usual one (of 15 years) chopped her front feet back so far that she was very sore on them. Highly recommended new farrier has been great and shod her with extreme care, rebuilding hoof wall and inserting gel over the sole. It was touch and go until a few days ago whether Saffy would be able to jump or not but I'm chuffed to report she is sound and happy
Today was a scorcher and when the alarm went off at 5am it did occur to me that we were mad. However, out I trundled and plaited while A did the yard, and off we went. Ingliston is a wonderful venue and the backdrop of the hills in the outdoor tops it off. Saffy jumped double clear and in the jump off produced another clear to win by almost 6 seconds. Clever girl that she is - we are very lucky to have her but after a few homes where she was too much for the riders all credit to A for building the partnership and I think she would do anything for him
Only one jumping pic as the fences were all at the wrong sort of angle to get good ones
We have this strange breed of dancing course builder up here - nice to see someone happy at their work...
