Was brilliant. We were supposed to have a lesson last night (my livery is also a riding school) but circumstances being what they were the instructor asked if I wouldnt mind joining the PC ride (i am 29 and didnt do PC!). They were doing games, bending, flag races, stepping stones, hoops all sorts. My horse and i have both never done games and we had to take our stirrups off the saddle to save them flapping when leading.

It was fantastic. We had so much fun and my boy loved being in the school and having fun like that. Never thought a long backed 16.3 TB could canter bending poles and never thought my balance was good enough to do it with no stirrups and not fall off!

Would love to do it again.

When was the last time you did something random/new with your horse and what was it?
 
The TB's absolutly love mounted games, we get the kids to do them at camp and we had an ex polo pony who was just leaving all the wizzy little ponies behind, he was brilliant.

If you really like a lot of local shows have bending, flag and stepping stones, especially the pony club shows :) Hope you have lots of fun.

Last time I tried something new, urmm never :p I did mounted games a while ago but with a pony we specially bought for it and we got to pony club championships.

I really want to tr polo on my new horse though, not sure I'd have much control though and polo lessons are just soo expensive.
 
A few years ago, my Riding Club did a Rally which ended with some PC games. It was very funny because to begin with the horses did not understand what it was all about, they were only used to trotting and cantering in circled etc. By the end, there were some very excited and silly horses in that school.
 
We had an ex-2* eventer on loan. He'd gone thoroughly sour, wouldn't jump a stick, which was why he came to us. He seemed always to have been treated as a serious horse so when my daughter took him to PC camp pretty much as soon as we got him and they did handy pony and games etc his little face was a sight to behold. He couldn't believe what he was being asked to do and he absolutely loved it.
 
Local RC has Games for different age ranges, including, I think it's something like riders 18years and over :D

A friend took her BSJA horse in - they had an absolute hoot :D :D :D. She kept doing it as well because it taught her and him to turn quicker, to look to where they were going (she used to look down at the jump rather than focusing on the next one), transitions improved tremendously and they started changing legs on her thought rather than on her thought/aids.

Would love to take Dizz - batty 16.3hh DWB, but was waiting 'till next summer anyway as didn't want to completely fry her brain cell :eek::cool:
 
Ex Racer Club had mounted games at their championship show the other year, brilliant to watch, they all had good laugh doing it too. :D
 
Kenzo beat me to is but me and my 18 hand giant were joint winners of the Gymkhana games at the Ex Racers Club championships. We had a million pound race horse, an 18 hander, a little ex racer ridden western and a lad that had finished racing just a couple of months before and had never been in an indoor school. It was the best fun I've had on horseback in years.

If your lad is an ex racer then you should come join in the fun in October

 
Good vid, well done for doing so well at the champs. My horse has not actually raced only been in training - Bless him so slow he didnt make the race track just ended up nannying horses on racing yard as he is so laid back.
 
You can still join if your horse has been in training!!

We've got quite a few fun classes including jumping and games on at the Champs as well as the showing classes

Aha, I'd been idly trying to find this out as we have a mare who was in training but never raced. Can you actually do any of the competitions?
 
If you can get something from the trainer who they were with to prove that they've been in training then they can be registered with The Ex Racers Club and compete.
