Hi all,
My sons pony is a 12hh Welsh c and generally just been fed on a vit supplement along with hifi lite until this point.
We have slightly restricted her grass so she’s got a patch but still grass on it and never had lami 🤞. Shes 7.
We’ve now changed the vit supplement to baileys performance balancer (for the higher protein) as she’s been getting less energetic since her workload has been increased with more comps/camps/rally’s etc going on now. But it’s clear it’s not quite enough. I give her Saracen electrolyte mix now too to help in that part but is there anything else I could give her to help her have that extra sparkle of slow release energy without turning her into a bucking bronco? 🤣
Some people at PC recommended high fibre cubes but I’m not sure how that is going to help her pizazz as she’s has plenty of fibre in her diet.
She is in great health and fitness otherwise!
Thanks!

High fibre cubes are my usual go to for my lads (one is a 20 year old prone to laminitis and oats send him loopy, thus leave me riding a kite, and the other is a 2 year old not in work but gets a small handful cause it adds extra fibre to his diet), so personally I'd lean towards those to see if they help with energy increase. You can check the bag to see if they have any heating ingredients in that your pony may react to. I find that if my 20 year old needs some oommph then a scoopful tends to do wonders, occasionally I'll switch out the cubes for a mix instead but I am extremely careful as mixes can be very heating and cause some interesting results.

Otherwise, oats are a good alternative - I'd give half a cupful for introduction and see how things go from there. You can always up the amount to suit as and when needed :)

Topspec Turbo flakes. Easier than oats to feed. I used to give them to my dcs ponies at pony club camp and despite the scary sounding name, they just gave them a nice energy and stamina.

Pure Feeds Working. I used it when my pony had a sharer and was actually doing some work. I didn't feed the full amount but it definitely gave him more zip, which was still controllable. I tried oats but they made no difference in the amount I fed.

Pure Feeds. I can't remember if it was the Easy or Working blend. I used it when my pony had a sharer and was actually doing some work. I didn't feed the full amount but it definitely gave him more zip. I tried oats but they made no difference in the amount I fed.
