Pea/bean Straw

Has anyone had anything to do with this, either for feeding or bedding? My local farmer has offered me some if I want it, but I have never heard of anyone using it except for cattle feed.

Personally don't like the stuff, from what I've experienced can be very small pieces and very dusty. I know the farmer we use sells it for horses who need to put on condition but I didn't entertain it due to the dust for my old boy.

A riding school I liveried on fed this at times. Pea vine it was called. Very rich apparently so was fed 50/50 with barley straw. The horses/ponies loved it.

Be aware that some of these things are now sprayed with a dessicant to dry the vine and make harvesting easier.

Brilliant thanks! I have several natives that are already struggling to lose weight with this mild winter so probably not the best thing to give them, plus the spray issue too is a worry.
