I have just got off the phone to my vet after he has done x-rays on Cassie and she's staying there to be monitored for a day or so. She's been in with laminitis and a suspected infection in the laminae (in one front foot only) for nearly 2 weeks now but she had not responded to antibiotics/poultice/tubbing of the foot. He says she is an unusual case, she is very lame, pretty much hopping on 3 legs...however, there is virtually no pulse in any 4 feet. He has put a frog support on now which he says has improved her dramatically...I am yet to see, am going to visit her tomorrow morning. My vet also said that the x-rays show no pedal bone rotation...but some pedal bone erosion in the front left she is so sore on.

Has anyone had any experience of pedal bone erosion? Any advice/stories welcomed...

could be pedal osteitis or Keratoma.

sounds similar to my mare. we thought laminitus but no rotation so not, we thought cushing causing hoof alterations but bloods showed it wasn't.

we operated on what we thought was a keratoma but it wasn't and now she's just had infected pedal bone removed!

my mare wasn't hoping lame and had no pulse until the pressure in her abscesses built uo and then she was on 3 or 2 legs! the puss never poured out of her though, just a tiny amount and it always surprised me how lame she went with such a small amount of puss. it never behaved like a true abscess.

good luck with finding a diagnosis. x
