If a horses pedal bone had rotated, how much pain would he be in?
My gelding began bucking about 10 months ago. Vet only found slight lameness on tight circle and diagnosed navicular on x-ray. I took his shoes off, and had his feet done by a barefoot trimmer. He's on field rest til the Spring. I have now noticed he has semi-circular 'ridges' on the soles of his front feet between the tip of the frog and the white line.
He is quite happy trotting and cantering about in the field but a bit footy on gravel and concrete. Having looked up loads of stuff on navicular/barefoot etc I am getting a bit worried these 'ridges' may be due to the pedal bone rotating downward. I would have thought he would be in pain if this was the case though? He has no history of laminitis.
Has anyone seen this before. Please tell me I'm being paranoid!
