Pedigree chum mythbuster

Well I don't think they put anything addictive in it because after years of woofing it down, our 16yo JRT has decided it is beneath his contempt and nothing, but nothing, will persuade him to eat it any more.

PMSL, this is apparently a myth:

Raw feeding is the practice of feeding domestic dogs a diet primarily consisting of uncooked meat and bones. This is also sometimes called BARF, which stands for Biologically Appropriate Raw Foods.

Erm, that's pretty much what raw feeding is: how can that be a myth?

I LOVE how they say no, no, our food doesn't only contain 4% meat but then fail spectacularly to say what percentage it actually does contain. Brilliant!

Where's the bathing thread? Let me at them!!

I dont really know exactly what this thread is about but to above poster on the link it says the meat contained is between 30% and 60%! while dry food is only 20%

Myth
'Fillers' is a term for ingredients that have no nutritional value.

Fact
All the ingredients in Pedigree are there for a purpose.

Fillers are very cheap and bulk up the food with no nutritional value whatsoever and therefore increase our profit margin. ;)

Have read it fully now, still think it is rubbish!!!

If I buy a beef branded product I want beef etc, not 4% beef and the rest pork, chicken etc.

What about animals who are allergic?

Don't want to convert but I had a dog who was given a year at 2 years old , when my vet was amazed that she was still with me 3 years later he asked how I did it , as Cambridge was sooo sure she would be gone.

I was nervous, told him I was feeing her raw meat and bones , and he has now converted , she died at 20 :) :( x

The white poo is still around - raw fed dogs make it :) give any poo in our garden 24 hours and it's white, 48 and it's disintegrated! (ps I do usually pick it up quicker than that but the principle applies - its preservative free!)

Most of which is meat derivatives, which can include feathers, feet, beaks. Nice!

Same, crumbles away when left :)

Don't ruin my childhood beliefs and tell me your dogs aren't white poodles !!!

Oops, mine are at least part white (but clearly not poodles, sorry!)

My dog does white poo ! He is fed nature diet, would do raw but I am too squeamish on some of the raw options.

One of my friends thought there was something wrong with him as she found some white poo hiding in the garden and suggested I take him to vet for a check up :)

I've asked why they use potential carcinogens in their dried food, can't wait to see the answer!! Clearly being one of the lowest quality foods is not enough for them! :D
