And it looks like a typical american new fangled gadget bit tbh....looks more suited to be seen in a barrel race or something!
Found it rusts really easily too, left it to soak and took it out a little while later and it had orange rust on it. Happened everytime it got wet...not something I wanted to put in the horse's mouth again!
I tried one too and it looks like an instrument of torture!! It is basically a very very thin mullen mouthed snaffle, I cant imagine a sensitive mouthed horse accepting it. I tried it as my horse has mouth issues as in constantly draws his tongue back and I thought a thin bit would give him more room in his mouth for his tongue. My boy didnt like it and leant on it and I lunged with it and when my horse had a bit of a 'mad en', bucking and flying round, he almost turned himself over stopping when a stronger contact was used to stop him. There are a couple of people on here who did like it and had good results though. If you search Pee Wee you should find the posts.
We have several horses and have found that those with big tongues go beautifully in it. Especially good for keen cross country types, eventing at Intermediate level! It is not torture, it's how you use it, and it has different positions. Several of our friends have borrowed one, and most have subsequently bought! All Sweet iron rusts (it's not stainless steel). The key to it is the arched curve over the tongue, not flat like a mullen mouth. One of ours doesn't go well in it, but she doesn't go well in anything but a happy mouth at present, being a bit teenaged at rising 6
I started competing my 11yo endurance Arab in a Pee Wee last year as he was having issues with his formerly acceptable single-jointed snaffle. Like a lot of Arabs he has a thick tongue and low palate, so I'm guessing the snaffle was digging in (although he'd been fine with it for 6 years ...). Anyway, he goes well in the PW; we have brakes, and he doesn't throw his head around as before. It has rusted a bit but as Sponsormum says, it is meant to.

It is made of sweet iron and is designed to rust, that is why horses like the taste, it's much warmer than stainless steel.
The bit was designed by an Australian. I have had 2 draft horses with short mouths and big fat tongues go very well in the PeeWee and have had good brakes. I have recommended it both on here and in RL. Afriend who events has borrowed mine to teach her horse to turn when asked. She found that the brakes became less effective as he got used to the bit.
Thanks all though I'm still confused as whether to try or not. Sponsormum - does the curve arch over the tongue mean that there's more pressure on the bars?
