I am having real problems this year trying to protect my mares nose from the sun. Every day I put factor 50 sun cream on, plus sudocream in the evening. She wears a fly mask with a nose flap but nothing seems to help.
She has a large white blaze on her face and she is loosing the fur half way up her nose and her skin is peeling again! She is very pink underneath. However she does not mind me applying the potions and lotions and her nose is not hot or swollen. It probably looks far worse than it is but I would like to try and find a a way to give her greater protection if I can!
I do not leave the fly mask on all night as I'm not keen on doing that however she wears it from 6.30am to 6.30pm. I do keep her in during the day occasionally but the stables get full sun from about midday!
Is any body else's horse affected by the sun in the same way?
