Hello,

Just read an earlier link regarding showing and the use of Pelham bits. Someone posted a comment about all horses eventually lean on a pelham bit. Just started to ride my horse successfully in a pelham bit with two reins (mainly riding off the top rein) - so a little bit worried now.

Is this true, and if so why does it happen?

Thanks for any comments.

Ridden mine in a pelham for about 18 years, initially in roundings and for the last 6 years or so on two reins, and she's no different now than at first. I only use the curb rein when I need it, and she responds immediately.

I have a ridden a number of horses for quite long periods of time in pelhams, and none of them ahve constantly leant on them, ok some times they have off days and lean but the next they are fine again.

Some horses I think just get used to bits and find ways to lean on them, evade them etc....

If your horse is happy in it, then hopefully it will stick! :)
