I was just wondering what does a curb bits do? I don't get it by "levering action"... Could someone explain to me what levering means (what does the curb bit do)? And if u use the pelham with just the snaffle ring, will it be the same as hanging cheek bits? Thanks

Pelham on the snaffle ring without the curb strap will have the action of a hanging cheek.

Lever action: Because the rein attaches below the bit, rein pressure rotates the bit around the mouthpiece. The further away the attachment is from the rotation point ('fulcrum'), the more the force is amplified - just like sitting further from the middle on a see-saw makes you 'heavier'.
The chain below the jaw holds the bit down, so that it acts onto the bars of the mouth rather than simply riding upwards.

The lever action comes into play as the curb rein is used, rotating the bit in the mouth and eventually causing it to move upwards effecting poll pressure. The poll pressure is limited by the the curb chain which then transfers the pressure to the curb chain groove and bars of the mouth.

If you use just the snaffle rings with no curb chain then yes, it's the same as or very similar to, a hanging cheek with the same mouthpiece.
