I am looking to do some ridden showing next year and would like to put my pony in a Pelham with double reins. However he is only 13 hands and has a small head. Are there any Pelhams that are smaller so it doesn't swamp his head? He is usually in a 5" loose ring snaffle with a lozenge. Tia :)

One of my Arabs is shown in a lozenge jointed Pelham it's just the same mouthpiece as his everyday snaffle, I bought it at cotswolds sports it was £38, fylde saddlery also sell pony bits and can basically make you what's you want but they are more expensive.

just wanted to add you need something with a shorter shank which the one I bought has.

It your pony had a smaller mouth, I could sell you a 4, 4.5 or 4.75" as have them in the bit box:)

Yes, you certainly can get one in 5inch, just be careful in ensuring the shanks (length of the vertical part of the bit where the reins, lipstrap and curb chain attach) is a suitable length and not too long.

Most show Pelhams are pretty dainty. For the real tinies butterflys work well but shouldn't really be needed at his size.
