Well, it's taken me a week to try and get the photos sorted (many thanks to all who've allowed me to use them!), but here they are!

This first batch are from the mid-week ride-out:

Me and the 2013 Lass

The principle party (with Craig the marshal) - guess how many of us fell off?!

Mounted up:

At the halfway point in Howgate, with Monarch stopping for a quick snack!

With Craig:

Coming back from the field after my tumble!

Getting some treatment before going to hospital!

Installation and parade pics to follow later...

Aww sorry to hear you fell off! :-( I went to the mid-week ride out last year and had a brilliant time. Craig's a great guy :D

Installation night, Thursday:

The principles party - James and Lynsey (2012 Hunter and Lass) me and Sally, Adele and Andy (2011 Hunter and Lass)

Flying the flag (not easy with a broken shoulder!)

The Hunter sounds his horn

Getting ready for the ride-past at the town hall

On the way down

On the way back

Then we went inside to get drunk! :D

Brilliant pictures :D

I have to say though, I believe I have the best view in the world from my office window- All the lead common ride horses enjoying their down time ;) Its very strange to see so many white horses in one field! They were all flat out sleeping yesterday.

Wow fabulous photos, sorry about your fall though. Hope it didn't put too much of a dampener on things. Although it doesn't look like it from the pictures! :)

Well, I couldn't do the full ride-out (which I was totally gutted about, as there was glorious blue skies and sunshine, coupled with mile upon mile of beautiful countryside to ride through!), but I did what I could on the day - basically all the ceremonial ridden stuff in the morning, and the parade in the afternoon.

I do think, however, that my ride-outs are a write-off for the year, as my first physio appointment isn't until the end of the month, and I doubt I'd be able to do much more than walk and trot!

Saturday photos, part 1:

Aboard, first thing in the morning!

A drink in front of the town hall

The customary two blasts on the hunting horn, signifying the start of the ride-out

(most folks do that with two hands...!!)

Ready to leave

Riding up to Penicuik House

With Sir Robert and Lady Clerk in front of the house

Another blast on the horn - this time it was THREE, normally only reserved for when monarchy is in attendance....!

Final lot of photos from Saturday:

Coming down the main road

Heading into the park for a well-earned beer in the beer tent!
