i have to move to Somerset in 6 weeks because I am starting a job on the 1st May......I have a *few*

questions because i don't know anyone in this area (apart from my Dad, but he isn't much help!

) so I hope people can help me.

1. I need to know where can I find a room in a shared house? When i have found places to live in the past it is because i know the people, or through a friend of a friend, but seeing as i don't actually know anyone it might prove difficult

Would love a place of my own, but just cannot afford it

2. I need to know of any equestrian centres and riding clubs in the Yeovil/Chard area. I don't have a horse

but want to continue riding as much as i possibly can, because I have learned so much and want to carry it on!

I would like to hear of a place that holds clinics and shows etc, because not only would I like to take part but i think that would be a good way to meet like minded people - stewarding at shows, jump judging, writing for judges etc

3. In Bournemouth (and surrounding areas) there is a website called nfed , which is basically an 'equine directory' for the New Forest areas - it has information on businesses, private instruction, and also classifieds. plus it has a forum, which i have found to be a source of invaluable information and local knowledge. Is there such a thing for Somerset??

I have about a million more questions but I'll post them later I'm sure

Plus does anyone know of a 15.2 - 16.2hh horse that needs riding? As from the 1st May??

Hey Jen,

Noooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! You can't move to Somerset!! Pete said, only two nights ago that he thinks we ahould not bother with Cornwall because we have been there done that twice and we had a long think about surfing/horse riding/nice restaurants etc and did some research and it seems that Bournemouth is the place for us

Then I thought, Oh god, thats where Jenny lives and now I read your post

flatmate world, easyroommate.com and many other house sharing websites cover the whole country. I have found 2 house shares through them, you just have to make sure you can get on with the people. Make appointments and go and meet as many as possible as far in advance as possible.

Horsey - google 'tack shop' and 'Somerset' or yell.com them, and go visit them - most are friendly and chatty for ideas, and you can put adverts in their windows etc. Same with feed merchants. I would imagine local pony club and riding clubs would be a good place to start if you wanted to help out. Offer yourself as a Steward for any events. When you start work you'll soon find horsey colleagues and spread the word.

www.equinetourism.co.uk (I think thats the name of the site) has a wealth of information including clinics in the south west. Also the Somerset County Gazette (Thursdays) would be the general all round paper. Could also try the Western Morning News. Good luck.
