How are you finding it?

I advertised one last Thursday, had a deposit on him by friday and since then have had about 30 enquiries, of which I reckon 10 were very seious and have been kept on a waitlist just in case sale fell through

I have to say I have been gobsmacked with the response given the current economic climate. I wasn't giving the horse away either!

Did I just advertise at a lucky time or is this the general trend?
 
good genuine stuff is selling...

as long as there is a realistic pricetag attached!!

I think horses priced realistically for what they are are selling no probs. We (in insurance) seem busier than ever with people buying horses and not cheap ones either, In fact we are getting more than usual up over the £5K mark which is unusual for us as our general market are the pleasure horses valued around £2000 or so.

Interesting - I would love to know where these people get their money from and can they send some my way!!!

I think it entirely depends on what you are selling - as always. Some animals are recession proof, in my case, safe, proven, PC allrounders. Just sold mine within a week for near to the asking price to a perfect home.
See lots of animals - especially youngstock advertised and think people are having a laugh. But would still expect to pay serious money to get a good horse/pony.
 
i think poeple are buying competition horses or riden horses still. but i think for the mo people are being cautious about investing in anything under 3 IMHO,
 
I have one of my geldings for sale, i dont think he is over priced, nor do people who know him. I have been TOTALLY honest with anyone who has enquired and come out to see him( i have had about 12) because I him to go to the right home.
I am really struggling to sell him. No-one seems to be buying in my area.
This is the first horse i have sold and its really hard!

i sold one very easily recently , had quit a number of calls & ended up with people waiting to see him if the ones already booked in didn't buy
 
Ooh B and J , what are you selling/ where have you advertised?

Owen got loads of calls when his advert went out a few months ago, even with all his back opertion details on the advert!

I know what you mean tho, considering the current economic climate.

Advertised horsemart and horsequest, horsemart giving the biggest response
 
mmh... Im trying to sell an extremely talented, backed, calm, 3yo IDxTB sports horse gelding... NO responses at all to add, actually priced very well for his ability, breeding and temperament, Im going to be bankrupt before I manage to find him a good home... he should have been going to Burghley YEH 4yo class in 2009 but I can no longer afford to keep him...

So how do I sell him, tried horsequest and horsemart, just running up more bills with advertising..

Anybody want a seriously good horse?
 
I honestly think he's over priced. Don't mean to be nasty, but he's an investment & it's a poor time to be making those atm....
 
Well, I sold my mare in less than a week back in March and my friend has just sold her 13 year old 14.2hh Irish cob mare, loves jumping but never competed, for £4000 - sold her in two days with four other potential viewers queuing . . . .
so, yes, they are selling . . . . .
