Argghhh!!! Pulling hair out! Silly woman that came today made me want to scream!
She called me last night, looking for a pony for her granddaughter. I told her everything about my pony, I gave her the number of the people that had her on loan for the last four years, and she contacted them, and their pony club. She called me back, chatted for a long while, then arranged to come and see her this morning.
Last night she told me that her grandaughter was coming off of another pony that had been on the leadrein. She wanted something steady, that was safe and honest. I told her that my pony can be a bit ploddy, but she will walk trot and canter without too much kicking etc. She said that sounded perfect.
Anyway, grandaughter got on - turned out she had never learnt to ride, just been sat on a pony and led around. She held onto the buckle of reins and shook reins expecting pony to go. Then when I told her to use her legs, she starts bouncing up and down in the saddle but still not using her legs. I led pony a few steps, she started walking around, looking after her rider, just walking around the edge of the school. Girls legs didnt even reach the bottom of the saddle. Grandma says "no, I don't think its the pony for her - she can't get it going" I told grandma that grandaughter needed a smaller pony. Grandma replied that she had been riding a 12.3hh (mine is 12.2h) and she wouldnt get anything smaller.
Grandma then tells me that she didn't really want to spend what I was asking for pony anyway, and would only have offered me £1000 (less than half what she is advertised for). She went on to say that she wants a 12.2hh pony that will walk trot canter and jump without child having to kick (go off voice commands) but it musn't be fizzy, and must stop as soon as its asked. It must be under £1000.
I was so cross, I had told them exactly what my pony was like on the phone - they had wasted my morning as well as their own. Why do we have to weed out so many timewasters before we find the people that are genuinely looking for a pony!
