People who clip all year?

I'm toying with clipping D through the summer this year because she gets very hot and sweaty when working and it can't be pleasant for her. Sorry to sound stupid but if you keep a horse clipped can you turn them out without a rug or are they going to get cold? I know that sounds cruel but she doesn't normally feel the cold and wore at most a mw this winter despite having a hunter clip and living out. I don't like to think of taking off her coat just to subject her to a summer sweating in her lw turnout

We keep my sister's pony clipped all year round and he doesn't wear a rig from about may til october. The two things to be aware of are flies and sunburn, if there are loads of midges about we use a fly rug and he's bay so midges aren't a problem but i have seen pink skin horses get burnt after being hogged or clipped in the summer.

depending how warm it is you can turn them out without a rug. i suggest making sure you watch the weather forcast and if it's gonna be wet etc put a light weight rain sheet on to keep them cosy! ours have full clips and in summer if warm enough turnout without a rugs

I have to clip alll year because my Woo is a hairy thing and has a long summer coat.

If they are in suffient work and are hairy they may need clipping.

if you clip,watch out for rainscald.maybe baby oil for first week to make waterproof(i do this with my shetland),or lightweight rug,or become a weather fanatic always dashing to put them in.lol.

My cob is fully clipped year round and only wears a LW t/o in Summer if it is heavy rain, and a summer sheet at night (in stable) if it's going to be a chilly one.

I clip my cob all year as he tends to get very hot in the summer. I turn out in either a summer sheet or anti fly rug.
