People who have their horses on DIY and finish work late...

I'm usually the last one up at my yard at night.

I just get them to leave my boy out as he's not fussed being out on his own and knows his routine now. Personally, I like the fact that he's independant as I hate relying on other people although there are always people there who could bring in for me but I also hate bringing him into a dirty stable with no hay even just for half an hour.

On our yard, our yard owner does all the turn out when they come in for winter untill they are back out 24/7 in late spring.
In summer when they are all out 24/7 we each have an individual paddock in a 2 big fields.
They are allocated (as the YO rides in the morning) so her horses are evenly distributed throughout the 2 fields. So that the rest of us who ride in the evening can be sure that if we dont ride on evening and everyone else does, her horses will still be in the field so that nothing is ever left on its own.
In the winter, our horses are put out and brought in for us so that the YO can manage the turnout and also so we dont have the problem of any left alone or us having to go out in the dark.....also....we arnt charged any extra for this...! she is fab!

I had this problem and my horse kept getting left out and going beserk!

I now pay for assisted DIY because I got fed with having to ask for 'favours' or having to find some way of if you do this for me i'll do this in return kind of thing.
If you have the option of DIY its peace of mind and you don't feel like you owe someone all the time. Failing that could you offer someone a tenner a week or £20 a month or something because if your paying them then its a formal arrangement and easier to get someone to stick to it (.. in theory!

I have a lovely YO who turnsout or brings in whenever I need it so if I cant get there in the evening she will bring him in for me. She also brings in if she sees him galloping around (he doesnt like combines) or if the weather turns bad.

Ha ha ha hee hee hee
I am on full liveryyyyyy

Sorry folks, just moved from diy (and I'm still on a high)- bloody expensive and hubby's going crazy with the cost - but needs must when you work fulltime and your health is suffering!

Don't you just hate people like me:D:o

Im quite lucky as i work round the corner so i tend to ride in the mornings (changing my working hours to 10am - 6.30) and put my mare out all day and then take my lunch at 3.30 just so i can bring her in then go back later to feed, rug up and tuck into bed! Pain in the arse i know going 3 times a day but it is the only way i can manage through winter! Its dark so quick!
