... do judges at bigger shows use score sheets? And if so do they give a score for condition?
Just wondering about the possibility of a student project looking a perception of condition in different areas of the horse industry.

I think one of the veteran societies has a condition for age score.

Veteran Horse Society have a Condition for age/suppleness/freedom of movement mark.

SSADL have a Condition/type/breed/equine history mark.

At bigger shows some societies insist on score sheets some don't use them so will depend what class

Score sheets are normally split into ride (manners, way of going, schooling etc) and conformation (exactly what it says on the tin) whilst there may be some part of the conformation marks that the judge allocates to condition it will not be decernable from the marks, the only way to know would be to talk to the judge

Presumably you could still do it as a survey, if you asked respondents to score a range of horses via photographs, then compared the results on the basis of their main discipline?

Posting on horsey forums, Facebook groups, asking local riding clubs to include a link in newsletters,?

I suspect it would be easier to achieve high numbers via a survey than by trying to track down individual opinions from judges - especially as showing is the only discipline where condition is overtly considered.

I'm not sure if this is applicable for what you want to measure but when feed reps (from many different companies) visit yards they often condition score a horse before weighing on a weigh bridge?
