Sorry, just got to have a rant.
Tonight, Harvey and i were quite happily walking back down onto the yard, minding our own business and someone on our yard whos known for sticking their nose in, was walking past with a black binbag. They suddenly shout "HOW IS HE WITH PLASTIC BAGS?!" and launches it at him. Now, normally he's not bothered, he's happily modelled shavings bags before with no fuss, but she threw it at him with such a force he almost sat on the floor poor lad.
She then shouted at him, and said to me "if he's ever getting a bit naughty, just do this." and she proceeded to punch my poor frightened lad in the ribs! So needless to say he starts getting upset, and walking in circles.. so while im trying to calm him down this woman continued to jab him in the side!!!!! i eventually got him to stand and we just walked off, but i was absolutely fuming. How dare she tell me how to handle my colt, let alone actually touch him!!!!
I cant be doing with people who think they know everything and feel it necessary to stick their nose into other peoples business!!
Sorry, but that really got me angry tonight.

Good God! I'd be absolutely fuming!!! If someone did that to my horse, I feel fairly certain that she would have ended up with a nasty bite or kick - she must be completely stupid putting you, the horse, & herself in danger. What an ignorant so & so.

I'd have jabbed her in the head

.

I was once out with one of the old ponies when a lady stopped, got out of her landrover and proceeded to tell me my pony was 'obese'. She then picked up his feet and told me he'd got dropped soles. I still, to this day, cannot believe I stood there and watched her do this and didnt say anything, I was just too shocked to open my mouth (which is a first for me)

If she does it again punch her in the ribs whilst shouting at her to stand still. What an idiot. Don't let people touch your horse like that, i think you need to be more forceful.

If anybody ever ever did anything like that to me I'd tie them up with a lead rope and stick a bl**dy plastic bag on their head. Dont put up with it!!!

i think my fist would of connected with her face if anyone ever did that tto Ted they would be on their back..
Stupid cow.. id have wor with YO

I'm with somethingorother on this

, I'd of punched her in the ribs, shouted at her to stand still while I punched her again ! Well that's what I'd like to do....in my world
smile.gif
. How are she ?
mad.gif
Tell her if she does it again you'll get her prosecuted for criminal damage

I hope you told her to get lost (or words to that effect!). Don't let her bully you or your horse. God I'd have jabbed her myself and it takes a lot to get me violent!

You probably can't hit her without being reported to the police for assualt. But you could turn the tables and report her for animal cruelty. (Mind you, you have to live with her on the yard - but it might be worth a comforting thought.) Pity that whilst trying to calm your poor lad your foot or whip didn't accidentally connect with her as she was so close to you both!

I would have gone menatal she had no right whatsoever to touch your horse let alone smack it in the ribs for gaulds sake what is wrong with some people, I hope you are going to say something to her

Why would you let her do that? I know he was startled and moving about, but surely you could have yelled at her while dealing with that?
p.s. I hope you're the only person who handles your boy. If you're on a yard where people think they have the right to help with his training - move him. The big mistake I made with my foal was that I allowed other people to handle her when I wasn't there.

I can see why you let it all happen. These things always happen so fast and when you're not expecting them then you can't always react as you would like. You always think of the cutting remarks you should have made much later!

For some reason the horse world has more than its fair share of bossy people!

OMG how did u stay cool?! my fist would have been going in her ribs I'm afraid! Thats honestly shocking behaviour and I agree you need to speak to your YO, if she will do that while your there what may she do when your not?! Hope your little lad isnt too traumatised by the odd woman.

If you stand up to her, she won't pick on you again. She obviously needed some entertainment and thought that would be fun. Next time, grab the plastic bag, and stand between her and your horse so that she will have to assault you to get to him. Yell at her loudly and crossly. Then repeat what she did to you, to her when she's holding hers (just the plastic bag bit). When her horse shies keep at it until he steps on her then say 'Oh sorry, I thought you'd appreciate the desensitisation training'!!

Oh my goodness, I can't believe how someone would even dare have the bare faced cheek to do such a thing and then proceed to punish your youngster.

Totally unbelievable, I'm fuming for you!

bludi hell i would have decked her. Hope she stays away from your boy <hug> and don't let her get to you. Perhaps you should invest in a "carrot stick" to use in colt defense LOL an reliably told they can pack a good sting

She basically just assulted your colt for no reason what so ever! I would say do the same back to hers, but that's just cruel - like her.

I would mention it to the YO, and kindly ask her NEVER to touch your horse again - what if he has spooked and trampled you or her? Ran in ront of a car or something, she would have been fully liable for that as she intentionally scared him.

Actuially, Does she ride? Do you have an indoor or outdoor school? either, maybe go in with a lunge whip when she is riding, ask if her horse needs geeing up and crack the lunge whip loudly, that should wake her beasty up! - I'm in an evil mood today, so yes I know this is immature, but yes I would prob do it if it was to teach a lesson I thought someone could handle!

I am normally a very tolerant person, but if anybody threw anything at my horse, let alone hit it, they would be left in absolutely no doubt how angry they made me.

That is absolutely bloody awful, i would have jabbed her, what a complete silly cow
I cannot stand people who stick their nose in, this woman sounds like an idiot tbh, with behaviour like that, how dare she do that to your horse

i really hate people who stick their noses in...this is why i hate livery yards....
shocked.gif

a lady at my yard always used to come in the school when i was riding and say things like "you know what kyra k does with her young horses"..."what you need to do is...." "just try a medium trot down the long side"..."let me show you a half pass" until i finally snapped and told her to FCUK off and mind her own goddamn business...if i needed help i would ask for it thank you very much. funnily enough she's never tried to give me a lesson again!
grin.gif

As someone said earlier, it really did happen so quickly, i didnt know how to react i was that shocked. All i was thinking about at the time was trying to calm my boy down and get him away from her. I really dont think it'd have gone down well if id punched her back, much as id've liked to. Shes just one of those people who think they know it all and clearly dont....

Mm, had one of those at an old yard, she walked in the school, pulled my mare to halt and grabbed my leg whilst saying 'Put your leg HERE, you will get bucked off if you leave it there!' Funny thing is... I'd been riding this mare for 6 months before with the same leg position (Which admitedly, wasn't great, but wasn't awful!) and never had a problem, I found her quite forward going actually.
