people who work full time

Being in Spain we have all tiled floors too (just as well with 5 dogs and the horses at home...there is usually more hay and hair in the house than outside ) Its much easier to keep clean though.

Oh lucky you, at least you've got a mucky house but nice weather outside!! I'm in North Wales so it's pretty but wet and windy!! Love tiled floors though, it's definatley the way to go with animals!!

Up at 6.30 get to yard at 7.15 feed, skip out and turn out leave yard by 8 to get to work by 8.30! Leave work at 3.30 get to yard soak haynet, poo pick groom and ride! Home at 6.30.
When I'm on lates I still get up 6.30, feed, muck out and then ride to get to work at 10.30 my friend brings in for me when I'm on a late.

I put a curfew on myself for home by 8.00 at the latest in the summer, 6.30 in the winter.

I muck out in the mornings, and skip out pm (horse put out around 8.00 for me).

I get up around 5:15, get to the yard for between 5:30-5:40, feed all the horses, then turn mine out, which takes some time as it's a long way to the field.

Muck out, soak feed for the evening, do water etc. Get home about 7:15, and get ready for work, to leave no later than 7:45.

In the evenings, IF I get out of work on time, I am at the yard around 6pm, same trek down to the fields to bring in mine and sometimes one other. Get hay, soak morning feed, check horses, get home around 19:30. That's without schooling or anything! Can't wait for the clock change so I can start to school in the evenings and not just weekends.

My usual winter routine is:

Alarm goes off at 4.45am
Get up at 5am
Washed and teeth brushed and out of the house by 5.15am
Arrive at yard by 5.30am

Quick tidy up and change into work clothes, on the road by 6.15am
1 hour 15 mins drive to work to start at 7.30am

Work till 4pm
1 hour 15 mins drive home so get to the yard by 5.15pm, finish a few jobs, ride, groom, rug up and feed and leave the yard by 7.30pm-8pm
Home by 8-8.15pm

OMG you are a saint!! I am never going to moan again about my early start lol (love it really, especially when I'm down there)

I think the travelling/commuting time makes or breaks it TBH.

I work full time, but the yard is 4 minutes from my house and my office is only a few minutes away too, making it perfectly possible for me to be able to do everything. I have two horses and I do the stables, turnout and ride one before work every day (I prefer riding in the mornings) After work, I go home, put the dinner on, then go up to the yard for an hour or so. If there was an lengthy travelling involved, I would struggle to do it all I'm sure. Also, I can easily arrange to nip up to the yard for farrier/vet/dentist, etc in the daytime as I'm always only a few minutes away.

I start work at 06.00 so I'm very lucky my pony is turned out for me. Get down to yard between 15.30 and 17.00, depending on what I'm doing, to muck out, bed down and bring in. Ride at the weekend. Now evenings are getting lighter should be able to ride 4/5 times a week.

I turn them out in the morning and bob them some hay in the field on my way to work, usually between 7:30am and 8am.

Evenings, on my way home I go straight to the yard, usually get there between 5:35 and 5:45ish (certainly always before 6pm anyway) where I muck out, bed down, dohay, feeds, groom or pick feet out/check legs etc, if I rush I can get home around 6:45ish that's if I just do a quick skip out, but usually around 7ish sometimes I lunge or ride, so I get home usually around half 7 quarter to 8ish, sometimes later depending on what I do.

I'm very lucky to have my horse on 3 day full livery which means all the jobs and everything are done for me on Mondays, Thursday and Fridays and he is brought in and fed for me on the other days.

Tuesday, Wednesday I muck out and ride before work.

5.30 up, teeth, dress, cuppa tea (one thing I can't do without!) and at yard for 6. Feed and muck out and other jobs (hay, feed, water, groom) whilst his breakfast goes down. On for 7am, 7.45 untack, rug up and sling out.

8.00 leave for work, 8.15 arrive at work, leave a mud and hay trail up the office stairs and quickly wash, change, make up in office bathroom before other staff arrive at 8.30.

5.30 pm back down to yard to finish off and kiss goodnight.

I have a very good argeement with OH. Wednesday is strictly a Non-horsey night (we call it our Wednesday's) and we always make sure we both come straight home from work and do something together (watch a movie/ go to pub/ get a takeaway). I ride only on Tuesday and Thursday evening and weekends, so I can be home by the same time he gets back on other days. If I want to ride extra days I get up before work and ride.

Think it's a fair deal, cleaning rarely gets done and make sure theres always a healthly of supply of freezer food, or microwave meals!!! :)

My friend turns out for me in the morning, which is a god send!

I finish work at 4, and arrive at the yard around quarter to 5ish. I don't usually ride in the week if it's winter, though it does depend. My OH helps me muck out. Usually home by around 6.30.
