People with cobs, A question about rugs

:eek:Rugs...?:p
Nope....he is naked!
Will keep him this way until his fitness comes back up as im bringing him back into full work (If i get my ass in gear!) throughout the winter...
Looking to clip him end of November/beginning of Dec :)
Then he will be rugged up to eyeballs as he looses weight easily when not hairy :)

Spock is in a LW at night if cold and naked during the day, more to stop his mammoth coat comming through than aything else. Once he is clipped I will rug depending on temperature, usually at this time of year he is still naked during the day once clipped and in a LW at night.

Wow so many reply's many thanks.
I think the reason i got worried was because the other cob in our yard(not clipped) has a rug on. Herman is my first cob the horse i had before was a TB so completely different ball game. Sorry if there is ever any questions i ask that sound really obvious or simple, i always want to do the best for my animals.

Still learning everyday :) feathers, pig oil, different feed, different rugs it sometimes feels like a different animal lol

Not rugged and furring up nicely. She'll winter out so don't want to encourage any wimpyness at this end of the season!! When she gets her little bib clip in 2-3 weeks time she will get a light rug on but nothing before!

This will be my first horsey winter and I think I may have started too early.... Mine's out 24/7, unclipped, and was naked until last night, when I put her lightweight (no fill) on her overnight - it had been very cold the previous night.

I unrugged at 7am this morning, and put it back on at 7pm.... will see how she goes, but she will be wintering out, so maybe I should have left it longer...?
