Just out of interest.

1. Do you ever lunge your mini shetlands?
2. Do you take them on hacks (mini walks)?

I lunge my Mini Shetlands to get excess energy out and stop them getting a belly :p and i also take mine on little walks just to get out and also keep a nice small belly :D People always stop :D Minis love the attention :D

Thanks In Advance

Funny, I was wondering just this earlier.

Mine jogs two miles a day at the moment, that's twice around our track twice a day, or we go through the trails and up the sand gallop in the forest. Usually with 3 dogs and 3 goats in tow as well. Me? I don't jog...I lead him off the quad, he loves it. One of the goats gets fed up about halfway around so she jumps up behind me. Sometimes he'll go in the round pen, or sometimes we'll pop a few jumps on the lunge...depends.

There used to be one round here that used to be led off a 14hh new forest and went out a few times a week.

Awww bless, bet that was cute, dunno whether i would want to do that with mine as he very very strong!! Little story one day i was riding my 15.2 and my friend was leading Pip one of my mini shetlands and i trotted off down road (i did warn her :p) then next thing i hear "PIP" turn around Pip cantering down road after me i have never jumped off so quick but as i did that foot got caught in excercise sheet so nearly landed on my bum but luckily i didn't then Pip got to Jake (my horse) and stopped, few!! Never trotted since off since :p Pip was fine! x

I used to take my old welsh pony for walks, and longreining walks and used to lunge him, school him on the longreins (because he could trot/canter s-l-o-w-l-y and i could run fast! :D)

Cant do it with my current ones as theyre unpredictable and lots of kids on our hacking routes :p

Awwww. Love the quad idea and how goat jumps behind you :D xx

Awwww, sounds really good. Awww shame you can't do it now x

I don't lunge mine, I just lead her out in hand and practise for in hand showing with her. I'm going to start long reining her at some point as I want to break her to drive. She has only just finished youngstock classes at the end of this season so I think I'm going to give her a season in 4yo+ classes next year then maybe break her to drive next winter :)

We walked ours like a dog!
Just took a bigger bag for poop!

Seriously though we did take him out for walks. His fave was around the duck pond where he was stopped every few yards, or we would go back to someones house and put him in the garden while we had lunch.

Hehe same, except don't take pooper scoop!! :p

Awwww cute, some people prob think we mad but i think it nice for them to get out just because there not ride-able for adults :p doesn't mean we can't walk them x

I wish I had a miniature shetland - my friend has one and he is so cool! 24" with the attitude of a 16.3 bruiser!!

We have a Shetland Section A cross - coloured - that we drive. Much of the time I just hack him out behind my horse.

C'mon - you can't really post a thread like this without pictures - so I'll start. He's not a mini, but he is cool!

OK, photo of Charley and I, taken yesterday.

I can't lead him off my mare because she hates him, and I really don't need to run 2 miles a day, I am trying to put weight on, not get it off. He genuinely enjoys his exercise. Hannah the goat didn't come with us, but just to show what she does!
