....do you get a discount for having more than one horse at your yard?

We are moving soon - have found a lovely lovely place.

I have three horses (although one is a foal) and the new YO has said I would get a discount on the livery as it is easier for them having one person to deal with for three stables.

Anyway - I haven't negotiated yet as going at the weekend to sort all that out. what do you think would be a reasonable amount?

I am on DIY at £35 a horse including bedding and haylage.
I thought 10% ?

Me to. I have 3 at livery and i had to moan when I was given space for 1 lot of feed and tack!!
I wouldnt get a discount but I know peole do offer it.
If you dont ask you dont get??

oo - maybe any discount is good then!

I don't get one at current place but that is more because I have added to my horses whilst being there. (and I don't pay for Foalie atm).

New yard is putting up seven new stables and I guess by taking 3 of them it makes it worth it for them?...

No we don't get any discount either. But we don't mind, it is great being where we are and would prefer to stay at the yard than move elsewhere for a discount but not be as happy.

I've got three but two of those are Shetlands that live out so can't really compare.
However, they do have the 'job' of keeping the babies company so I might ask for a discount for working livery

The only time I've ever had discount is when I've 'rented' a field. I paid 15pw for the first horse and £10pw for the second and third. I always ask if I'd get discount for more than one horse but no-one ever does and tbh I don't blame them (unless they are empty in which case I would wonder why lol).

Nope, no discount for mine. I don't pay much less than you and have to buy hay and bedding separately, so I don't think the YO would have a lot of room for discounts but why not ask her what she allows instead of asking for a set percentage just in case she is thinking of something like £5 from the whole cost.

Sounds a very good deal though

I have 3 on full livery and pay full price on the first one and then get 20% discount for the other two...although one is a pony anyway so would cost less in feed and bedding

I have always managed to get something knocked off - only need space for one trailer, one person with 3 horses takes up half the space of three customers with single horses in the tackroom and feed store and they can go in a paddock together

I had two on part livery at the last place and got no discount even though one was a miniature shetland. As far as the owners were concerned she was a horse and ate their grass so I had to pay full price for her. We're now renting a place on our own and paying the same amount for a whole yard to ourselves as we were paying for one horses stable and grass livery at the last place.

When we used to do liveries, we use to give discount for multiple horses when asked And we use to charge less for the smallest stable that could only take a diddy pony, as a YO I agree it is far easier to deal with one person for 3 stables than 3 people for 3 stables!
