I'm probably misremembering, but does one have to take extra care with spotty horses in the sun, given the fact that they often have pink or pale skin round the muzzles and eyes?

Mine isn't spotty but a grey with a mostly pink muzzle. I've always put the waterproof factor 50 kids stuff on in sunny weather in the morning & before riding, not had sun burn yet in 21 years.

I have a coloured with a pink muzzle & have to use factor 50 sun cream on him as he burns very easy. I also use a sun protector nose net thing

Think mine will pull a very sour face if I come anywhere near his face with the suncream... It will have to be the fly veil / nose net for him, I guess (although I bet I will find it stuck in a tree somewhere!)

I use either the factor 50 childrens sun block on my appy's nose and as he has some quite dramatic scars on his hip I use Sudocream on this.

Never had any problem with burning and only problem I have is his conviction that I am attempting to kill him when I apply the sun cream on his nose!

I tried the fly mask and nose net, after 3 trashed ones I went back to smearing on the sun block;-)
