I've had a few sharers in the past, the last one for nearly 2 years but she gave up due to financial reasons. I advertised for a sharer and had a lady who was interested. I gave her a copy of the loan contract to look at which is based on the BHS one with bits I've added. She's modified it to suit her needs entirely! She doesn't think she should pay if she goes on holiday or that she should have to give me any notice should she want to stop loaning! What do other people think? I've told her basically it's my contract or nothing...

Could you come to a happy medium, for example, when she goes on holiday she still pays but just half?

What was the original notice period? If its a month maybe suggest 2 weeks-meet in the middle?

I dont think I paid for my share horse when I was on holiday though saying that?

I think because each share is unique you have to argue it out between yourselves or find someone who is happy with your contract.

There is no right or wrong, you just have to find what works for you both.

I think you should stick to your guns. If she is arguing over things now you could find yourself with a lot of problems once she is actually sharing the horse. My sharer still pays when she is on holiday or ill. I do offer her the opportunity of having extra days to make up for missing some though. My mare had an injury recently and she never quibbled about paying for her days even though she couldn't ride for a couple of weeks and the horse was on box rest. She said that "sharing wasn't just about the riding". I am lucky though, she is an ex-owner so understands what horses are like. There are lots of nice people out there looking for horses to share, so my advice would be to keep looking! Good luck!
