Okay so yet again I am very bored today and I was just wondering what jobs people to to pay for their horses, and what job they'd actually like to be doing!

I'm a salesman (woman) and sell fuel to companies/farmers/domestics such as diesel, red diesel and kerosene.

Ideally I'd love to be working on an event yard getting lots of experience and having the opportunity to ride and compete and this would then lead to having my own competition yard and rehabilitation centre with working pupils! Also I'd love to own a Marketing company specialising in marketing equine specialist products, or something... Or working for BE or BD

But yeh, just interested in what everyone else does and wants to do!

Im currently in finance for a property company, I hate it and am hoping to get some grooms experience soon to set my career in the equine industry off with some good experience. Id like my own yard, to go competing and just be a "horser" as my OH calls it!!

I'm a civil servant (booo!) and v v bored at the mo.

Ideally I'd like to own a stud farm (tho I don't like the covering bit) and then break all the top class horses I've bred. I could then sell them tp you trussardi - you can event them & then we'll sell them for £££££££ (to approved homes of course). i can't wait!!!

I do admin for the Probation Service. Don't get me wrong, it's interesting, and very flexible, which really helps when it comes to having horses, but I'd prefer to own my own livery yard. I hate being stuck inside all day and would love to be out in the fresh air every day, I'd love to ride when I feel like it so I'm not rushing after work, and coming in when it's dark and getting tea after everyone else has gone to bed!

I'm doing an HND at the moment so fingers crossed one day I'll have that yard

I am a reablement assistant, helping people who have spent time in hospital to become independent again etc.

Ideally i'd win the lottery and swan about a mansion with incredible equestrian facilities.

I work for an internet based data marketing company. It's not the most interesting job in the world but it's very flexible and I work from home so I can pop outside and see my ponies whenever I want, so no complaints really

my usual profession is payroll administrator, atm a groom at local riding school which isnt ideal for me as money is rubbish!

would love to have my own full/part livery yard but i can only dream...

I run the marketing and sales for a small FMCG company. Would like to work in a larger company eventually like Nestlee etc. But my yard is two mins from my office so can't complain, also get free food every day! Once I have a full tummy I'm a happy girl!

I am an Office Manager for a Kitchenware company - that's the 40+ hour a week job. Also, I do freelance secretarial services from home (approx 4 hours a week), and I work evenings and weekends as a Human and Equine Bowen therapist (anything from 2 to 8 hours per week - I have to draw the line somewhere). The "extra" jobs pay for the 5 horses and I fit looking after and riding the horses in around work (luckily I rent my own land and they all live out 24/7/365, so I can be much more flexible on time - which wouldn't be possible on a livery yard).

Dream job - well, I'd either like to do Equine Bowen Therapy full time - or I'd like to do Kate Humble's job.

Unlike everyone else - I DON'T want to run a livery yard. Tried it once and didn't enjoy it at all!

I do the office work for our pet cremation business, I also go out to collect horses, ponies etc that have been pts, I feel that most people would rather a woman come to collect their animal than a bloke, so I go out with my husband to do this. it can be very upsetting at times but it makes me grateful for my own horse, despite him getting me off at the weekend.

Look up www.equinebowentherapy.co.uk and it should explain all (not my Website - but the place where I studied and qualified!)

Oh - and it's because the vast majority of people don't know what it is and how it works, which is the reason why I don't do it full time as I'd like to - there'd be no guarantee I could make a living from it!

I work as a senior adviser for a charity which helps disabled people get back into work.

What I would really like to do is become a full time housewife and then I would have all the time in the world to do the things I love most - time with my horse, time with my OH, time with my cats, time in my lovely house, time to cook and eat properly!

I own a pet, equine and livestock store along with my husband. We also own a home delivery pet food business. I get to talk to people all day long about their pets and horses, without actually having to do the physical graft with them (although lifting tonnes of feed wach week does have it's downside too!). It's a nice job in a wonderful small village, we are lucky to have some fantastic customers who have become friends, and as we also have two fab part timers, I can slope off to ride, walk the dogs etc a fair bit!

Oooh that looks quite interesting actually! We use a kineciologist (www.naturalhorsehealth.com) for such treatment and looks at the internal biochemistry of the horse - it's really interesting - my friend did a course in it (unfortunately not a recognised qualification) but I didn't believe in such things till I actually saw an improvement!

Im a student!

im doing physiotherapy so i guess id like to be a physio

id love to be a doctor without the 5 years of medical training, so i could have the money for the horse

I run my own internet/mailorder specialist baby product business. To be truthful, now my daughter is 10 it's a little boring, but is flexible ('working' from home today VAT return ugh!).
Would prefer to be doing something else but as I'm nearing 50 I'm still not sure what, past has included business ot business sales, middle management , small business advice etc, but I'm really an ideas person, always have good ideas, mostly for other people - someone that knows me well last year asked me 'Dusbie, what job are you going to do when you grow up?'

I am a Marketing Campaigns Assistant for a fast growing University. V good fun and pay isn't bad but I'm only working PT at the moment and waiting for some FT positions to open up.

Im a student doing my social work degree.. so i guess that makes me a social worker but i also work as a team leader for a childrens home when im not in uni.

I run a pub with my other half... Its hard work and I feel like I'm totally married to my job. I also work as a groom 1pm to 5pm seven days a week, It gets me time out of the pub and out of my other halfs way
smile.gif

I work for a global IT company, software/process support and training, BUT have been asking for VR for the last 3 years, due to retire Nov next year anyway. To my absolute delight they gave it me last week, so as from end of Oct I am a LADY OF LEISURE!!!!

O the joys of not having to fit the horses round a more than full time job, no more slogging round the yard in the dark winter evenings...........sorry everybody, not trying to make you jealous, I am just so happy!!

and am now starting the search for another horse, very exciting and scarey

I am a medical secretary working for an orthopaedic surgeon. Ideally, I would like to be an orthopaedic surgeon, but I am not clever enough!

I work as a finance assistant in the central accounts department at a university and am doing night school study(last yr of 3!) to become an Accounting Technician(would have to do more to become an accountant!), not my passion, but i do it to pay for the horse.
I would love to be a wildlife researcher or doing some job with wildlife, which sadly are either impossible to get in to, or are paid fairly badly.
So i plod along in a job i dont love and unless i have some kind of windfall nothing is going to change for now, i am determined to see through my 3rd and final year of AAT. After that, i dont know, i am thinking i would like a different career, but will not be jumping into or out of anything as i cant afford to

I am an advanced nurse practitioner...I do similar stuff to a gp and get to assess, diagnose and prescribe...I get nice hours and good pay and work with really nice people......I had to do the crap jobs and study hard to get where I am ..I can afford my horses etc etc.....

......BUT I have always been a farm girl at heart, family were farmers....I should have worked harder and been an equine vet....
frown.gif

but hey ho......could be a hell of a lot worse......
