We have a lovely woods 5 mins away where I have met so many lovely people and dogs. I had been told that there had been a few dog attacks recently including 1 chap who offered £600 for lady not to report to police!! I haven't been walking there because of this but decided to today, I wish I hadn't! First dog I see, small black collie/staff mix poss? Sniffs Pepe then just goes in to full attack mode-terrier style! Owner just stood there doing nothing so (although a bad idea for Pepe's confidence) I picked him up, with attacking dog trying to hang off P's back end!!
The men then said 'it's never done this before, wouldn't hurt a fly, didn't actually bite him' etc and even had the audacity to say my dog started it! Pepe was mute throughout and was trying to get away!

I have to say I am normally a very calm person but I don't think I have ever been so angry, I came so close to bonking this chap on the head! He never once said sorry. As he walked away I noticed p did have a small puncture wound and teeth graze on belly, presumably from when I picked him up.

Rant done and I shan't be walking there in the near future. I now feel stupid as I had been warned about nasties in there. Hoping to meet friend tomorrow with her dogs so hopefully P won't have any negative feelings.

Please get the puncture wound see to by a vet. My dog was attacked a few weeks ago, he was picked up by the neck. To start with couldn't see any wounds, then spotted what looked like a small cut. Took him to the vet and he had an inch long puncture wound and need a GA (very worrying for a 14 year old small dog) to have it flushed out, and the different layers stitching. Despite all precautions, antibiotics etc... it was infected within 24hours. The Vet explained it was very difficult to prevent due to how a dogs teeth serrate when they puncture. 6 weeks on and he now has a scar but has all healed up nicely.

why not report this to the dog warden. if no one ever says anything these stupid people will carry on letting their dogs run riot and the next dog may not be so lucky...hope yours is ok..

Please report this: I'm ruddy sock of aggressive dogs having a go at mine or out of control dogs coming flying and me not having the chance to get away :( Hope your lad is ok.

Suffolkangel : I know exactly what you mean! When P was young he got bitten by a whippet (fleeting bite, think he though Pepe was a fox as he chased bite then ran!) I didn't actually realise at the time that he had been bitten until he kept turning round to look at his belly and I found 2 teeth marks in the shape of four puncture wounds! Sometimes they don't bleed do they?
Because of this, when I got him home I put him in the bath, poor sod! To make any wounds obvious and fortunately it's just the one so has been anti bac'd and looks to be healing okay.

Splashgirl45 & cinnamontoast I have reported and from what I understand about the other recent attacks they have also been reported to both police & dog warden. I hate to think of it happening to another dog :( and I hate that it makes me nervous to take mine out!
