I thought I would formally introduce Percy - I know puppy photos are appreciated on here!

I picked him up last Friday and I'm SO in love with him. He's my first Dachshund (a mini) and such a little cuddle bug.

Side note but what did everyone do when they were riding? He's not crate trained yet (it's a WIP) and there are going to be days I'm riding up to three horses. My plan is to put him in the car in his crate and just go back to him as much as possible? He screams bloody murder when left alone!

mm. difficult one. you'll have to try and leave him for short periods then build it up. the trouble with taking him with you is that hell get used to it. Have you neighbours who'll complain if he screams?

i found that my lurcher pup went to sleep on the drive to the yard and i used to park where it was quiet and slip out of the door and go and ride and muck out, i could see into the car from the back of the stable so knew she slept all of the time, once all of the horses had been ridden and turned out i could have her loose in the yard as it was enclosed.. she was in a crate with a towel over the top and down 2 sides when in the car ...i think little dogs are a bit more difficult as i have found with my latest terrier.. i dont now work at a yard and dont have my own horse but when i go to help my friend with hers i pull the curtains, leave the tv or radio on, ive got one of those plug in calmers plus the same thing as a collar and have a camera which i can view on my phone so i know what is going on..and she is getting better at being left..
