I am in the process of completing my new american barn, I have Monarch stables with sliding doors, a kitchen and feed room, a tack room and wash bays with sprung tie posts and solariums - I would welcome any suggestions for anything else I should consider before I finish it off - I haven't settled on anti-cast strips, whether to paint the concrete in the central aisle etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

what about windows on each stable, this helps ventilation and also a view for nosy horses.
I have never seen a painted passage, it would look super........ for a year :D

A rug room, opening windows at the back of the stables, rubber matting in stables and an over wide walkway in the middle so folk can get past one another easily when horses are tied up.

a drying room ! for rugs, saddlecloths, boots, bandages. Absolutely invaluable ! :)

Would also like to add how insanely jealous I am :P

doors in the middle of the front of the stable so you have more corners for hay bar, water, corner manger etc.

A nice big gap in the middle so you can lead a horse past one already tied up outside.

Heated rug drying room definitely on the list. Big doors at either end so you can drive a tractor/ trailer through without having to reverse out (when delivering feed, hay, taking out end of winter full muck out.

Partitions between stables that fold open against wall. Big doors at each end of barn, tractor width, then every now and then you can open all the partitions drive tractor through and hey presto all the mucking out is done!! Many German barns are constructed like this. They also have the stable floors slightly lower than passageway so that you can build up bedding to passage floor level before you muck out. When I win the lottery .......!

A stable door on the outside wall of each stable. Top can be opened for ventilation and for horses to look out. Door for letting horses out easily in case of fire.

Seal the concrete under the boxes to prevent urine soaking in. Wi-fi (l have it). Smoke detectors connected to the house. CCTV.
