following on from the 'perfect horse' thread. I got thinking - I have never had a 'perfect horse' (& I bet they dont think i am the perfect owner!!) but I do think my OH is rather smashing - & on the whole I think perhaps that is the right way round, for me - because I feel I can have a lot more fun with a horse that isnt perfect than with an unsatisfactory OH!!

Which would you rather have, and why?

Oooh, I love a good 'would you rather' although in my place of employment, the questions are rather more... saucy.

I think I'd have to say - perfect OH. You have to live with them (generally speaking) and you can't sell 'em. In my case, my OH isn't perfect although he's a good lad on the whole, who has his moments. Actually, can I have that as an option? 'A good lad on the whole who has his moments' would be fine for OH and horse. You can always work with both to round off their rough edges and get them going the way you like.

Haha! i like the bit about selling. Although i rather think my OH probably thought he could round off my rough edges.... but though i am plenty round i am still very rough round the edges! :)

My husband is as near perfect as it's possible to get and with 7 horses (told you he was nearly perfect) I can pick the perfect horse for any situation.

I don't need to choose:D

Horse! My girls nearly there, if she could somehow become immune to foot abscesses then I would happily become a nun or the local mad guinea pig lady (not a cat fan) in exchange

I'd go with the perfect OH every time! I find training over half a ton of non-compliant horse an easier process generally than attempting to mould a prospective OH into something he's not. Found myself a brilliant OH who not only helped out with all the horsey chores (despite having no interest in it) and costs, but since I lost my boy he is now helping me save for a new one as he knows how much it means for me to have a horse in my life.

Plus the horse was never very good at the "blue jobs" round the house like taking the bins out, mowing the lawn, mending fences, fixing the car etc :-)

Well, I can live with a less than perfect horse but I can't live with an imperfect man. The perfect man gets my vote and my OH is totally perfect.

However, if I was single, I'd manage quite well without a man, but could never imagine life without horses.

I can leave my horses in their field to stew with minimal contact for days when I'm fed up with them, I have to share a bed with my OH! Plus he's hopefully going to live longer than the average horse, oh and he does the washing up, sometimes buys me stuff, even makes cakes sometimes, and he's never tried to kick me or chuck me on the floor from a great height... no sorry there's no question here ;-)

Oooh thats a hard one. OH is brilliant when it comes to the horses, great at poo picking and often do it instead of mucking out, makes/gives feeds, can rug up, pick out feet, his grooming skills are too shoddy either! Will divert me to tack shops along the way on road trips time/road conditions permitting....

I've always said horses, but thinking about it, OH deserves some recognition this time for everything he has had to put up with, and still wants me to have horses!

Perfect OH! He bought perfect horse and is flying perfect horse to the other side of the world for me.
Saying that neither are 100% perfect ;). 99% perfect, both do irritate me very very occasionally but then they are mortal :p.

My OH is perfect for me and I wouldn't be without him. I would choose him over any horse in the world so I guess that means OH over horse. I would also choose him over pretty much anything in the world in general mind you :)

However, a very kind HHO member has leant me their perfect horse too so at the moment I have both!

Well it's the perfect OH everytime now I don't want any of you telling Mr GS he's perfect as like giving to many carrots to a BF horse it not be good for him.
Mr GS spends most of his time jetting round the world earning money that's keeps the GS hacienda over our heads and the pampered equines ones in the manner to which they quickly become accustomned once they arrive here .
Mr GS is a bit of a handful if he where a horse you could not hunt him in a snaffle but he's great fun and has let me live my equine dreams but please no one tell him.
