I've got to clip my boy right out this weekend and want to leave the gel pad style saddle patch but mine always look absolutely horrendous!! I either square them off or one sides ends up so much shorter than the other! Does anyone have any tips/photos on how they do theirs? He's super good to clip - just hoping my clippers go through his very thick bum hair! He's currently got a chaser clip.

If you have a half pad or a friend that would let you borrow theirs for 5 minutes, you could clip around that to get the perfect saddle patch x

Or if you don't have a half pad that you could borrow, but do have some chalk (providing your horse isn't grey otherwise you'll need coloured chalk!) you could draw one out roughly and check it looks equal before starting :)

When I had to clip, I tended to eyeball mine as best as I could - if it looked truly awful I'd just take the whole lot off 🤣🤣

He's colour but white on his back - typical! Yes I could draw round a half pad - that would make sense! Knowing me I'll still mess it up! He's so sensitive I can't risk taking it all off until about March!
