Just wondered if anyone has experience of these. Mum joked today that she was footy & laminitic..I asked why, she has had sore soles of her feet & two toes numbing on the right foot..this came on suddenly last night..also the right foot has felt sore too on top - like a burning feeling..or walking on stones.

Obviously sending her to her gp tomorrow am, but googled..should have gone here first. She had a feinting spell last year & resulted in stitches to her head(10) when she went over backwards in the yard and in feb, I was driving home from visiting & she text to say she had fallen asleep reading the paper in the kitchen, fell back off her chair(wooden) and hit her head again on the oven.

As a child she had rheumatic fever so the drs have said at some point she will possibly develop heart valve issues, so have tested, done bloods, scans & brain scans & she had a heart monitor for a week. Its taken a while..but Mum being mum, she won't spill until pushed! She noticed her hair has gone very fine recently too-and she has had two ops for varicose veins, so was wondering if it was that or circulation..I wondered if it was any of the above or worse diabetes..or rheumatoid arthritis..please feel free to suggest something harmless & simple if you've had experiences..good ones as well as bad.. I am a worrying now & know she is difficult about taking medicine as would rather take herbal things. She doesn't drink or smoke & is 65, eats healthily, but I worry she doesn't always look after herself as too busy running round after others particularly since Dad passed away..I do also think she might need to eat more sweet things and fat than she does...the good ones I mean

Right..will stop waffling & thank you for reading x
Black Earl Grey with Lemon Slice & bakewell tart to share :D

I think it's a bad idea asking this sort of thing on a forum. It could be anything, and nobody on here can diagnose and you will probably end up feeling more confused and possibly worse.

I would just deal with the docs concerned.:)

You need to concentrate on getting her to the doctor's and then on persuading her to take any medication prescribed. Remind her that most medication is herbal based, or a synthetic copy of something natural e.g. aspirin is from willow bark, etc.
FWIW, I've only ever heard of peripheral neuropathy in alcoholics but I'm not a doctor.

I know that would be the sensible way..thing is its Mum..so she will only tell me a bit..if i can get that much out of her...so totally agree..but will need to post on best information extraction techniques instead..

Thank you Pearl..yes thats a point, very good way of putting it..they'll be willow bark tablets from now on! She has agreed to go to the dr first thing in the morning(its opposite her work) so thats a good thing ( I'm 120 miles away so not checkable but I think she will go) ..the rest tho will be like persuading a toddler to eat sprouts....covered in red wine & garlic!
She doesn't drink so hoping you are right :)
