This has probably been talked about in other threads and i'm sorry if it has.

We are hoping to put up a 12x24 ft stable block in our garden and beleive this comes under permitted developments. Can anyone clarify or speak from experience with this please?

Yep I put a barn up in the garden on permitted development.
There are various stipulations like not being more than 25% of the curtilage of the garden, must not be more than 12 foot high 12 feet from neibours boundary and not in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
What I would suggest is to go to the local planning office with a sketch of what you are going to do and ask there advice. But I did this after I had read all literature and was sure I was right.

The boundary thing puzzles me? Its got to be more than 12ft from a neighbours boundary? Our garden is long and narrow we would struggle to get an egg box 12 ft from a boundary let a lone a stable! I am not looking forward to this whole process, nothing is ever clear or straight forward :(

It maybe neighbours house, cant remember I have a big garden, it was 8 years ago. they gave me a booklet, its probably on line now!!!
My barn is 24 by 48, good job i have no neighbours.

It is all very confusing. our garden is approx an acre so plenty of room. We have neighbours with a house one side and a field the otherside which is owned by someone so in theory a neighbour.

The stuff online is baffling and never clear. I may well contact the council and ask for the details. They haven't been very helpful so far though :(
