I love my new pup but she is the most bloody persistant creature I have ever met. She takes after her mother who was exactly the same.
She currently sleeps in a puppy crate with my older dog next to her but outside in a basket. However, if she decides in the night that she needs a wee or is bored of being in the crate she will start to whine, and whine, and whine, and whine... so i get up, let her out, she wees and goes straight back to bed. No playing, no cuddles, just wee then bed. Now I'm sypathetic to her needing a wee but she is 10months old now and should be learning to hold her bladder better. She is waking me up at least one a night 5 nights out of 7.
At the yard, she is tied up in the tack room with a comfy bed of numnahs and plenty of length of twine whilest I teach. Note, this is because she RUNS OFF if I am in the indoor and she is left on the yard. If I tie my older dog up as well they are both fine, but if I don't (cos the older dog is a good girl and likes to sleep in the sunshine), the pup will whine and whine and whine. I've ignored her for HOURS and she won't quit. She just doesn't seem to understand the whining won't work, she never stops.
So I don't know what to do. Ignoring her ISNT WORKING as we practice this on the yard (when she isn't disturbing anyones sleep by whining). I don't want to let her out of the crate to be loose as if I leave the kitchen door open she scrabbles at my bedroom door whining and if I leave it shut she scratches at the kitchen door, whines and then starts eating my shoes (which live behind the door).
As I said, her mom was the same about barking at the gate and my parents eventually bought a special collar for her which whistles loudly when she barked... not sure if this would work for whining and howling though
HELP PLEASE??????????? she is driving me mental with this waking up thing. It was twice last night for heavans sake and she isn't a pup anymore.
