Ive ridden all my life but the last year Im suffering. I am trying to sit more on my bum unsuccesfully as I tend to sit on my fork but surely if this is the reason why then it should harden up and stop happening. Cant think of anything else apart from the fact Im getting older

and have put about half a stone on but I have been heavier than this before.
Any remedies

Cant say I have suffered from a chapped but, but do tend to feel bruised on my seat bones - Heather Moffat seat saver sorted that one out. Might be the hot damp weather we are having, I would perhaps try some talcum pwder and cotton big pants, or perhaps the comfy rump ones, though I always imagine they would feel like incontinence pants!

Could it be your underwear?

Not really sure what else it could be.....sorry. Hope it gets sorted though.

Yep Louby, feeling your pain. It doesn't matter what underwear I use either.....

It's also happening more since I changed my saddle.

Cant feel my seat bones at the mo, deffo got to get some weight off.
Im probably a size 14 at the moment and am usually a 12 so maybe it is the weight gain?

Its awful isnt it. I stink of Germalene at the mo lol. Its definately riding as when I went on holiday it healed up.

Would defo recommend a good quality seat saver of some sort to go over your saddle and protect your poor battered bum. Beware - some look pretty but are as much use as an ashtray on a motor bike! I'm pretty certain you can actually buy riding knicks with built in bum padding.

Try using talc powder to help absorb the sweat its also called "chefs arse" in the catering world. A lot of chefs talc up before cooking. Theres a nice thought for you next time your in a restaurant!!!!!

mmm nice lol, do you reckon its happenning because Ive put a few pounds on? or maybe getting older and things are going south!!
Ive ridden all my life and its only about the last year its happened.

Try wearing mens 'slips'! I used to get a bit sore in the 'saddle area', so I borrowed a pair of oh's pants and they were so comfy I have now bought my own! Very absorbant if you get a bit sweaty and also if you have a touch of stress incontinence! (Not that I ever have of course....).
