Personality clashes between horses

Does anyone else's horse take an extreme dislike to some other horses for no reason?

Usually my horse is good with other horses, but there have been 2 exceptions.

He always hated one particular horse that used to hack past our yard. The woman asked to use the school one day when I was in it, and my horse was furious. He kept leaping, spinning and squealing til she took it out.
The only other time he did anything similar was at a local show jumping comp when he just suddenly took a dislike to a horse in the warm up. He tried to spin round with me to pin it in the corner and I'm sure if I'd come off he'd have been after it to give it a good kicking. He had no issues with any of the other horses in there.
The only think the 2 horses had in common was that they were both coloured, but he's been fine with plenty of other coloured horses.
Anyone else had similar issues?

My friends mare hates my coloured mare (tries to kick her if we hack together & kicked hell out of the trailer when we tried to travel them together), my friend always jokes that her horse is racist!!!!

My mare is terrified (bolts in fear) of shetlands & miniture ponies.

We have one horse that absolutely hates another - the horse that is hated is disabled - it has a club foot and a twisted leg. The other horse is brilliant with any other horse we have ever put him with but bullies this one seriously - we cannot have them any where near each other. He hates him so much I believe he would have killed him had we not been able to beat him off. Horrific. Yet I put my old horse in with him quite happily and he just wanders around calmly.

One of my boys hates small grey ponies, everything else is fine, but if it is small and grey he wants to kill it.. Very odd

My SJ always singled out another horse every year and would immediately attack as soon as they were put out together. We just then kept them appart for the rest of the summer. Luckily he would attack straight away so I was there to call him off. He would attack with front legs and teeth adn pin them in a corner! It was usually a big chunky gelding that he chose.

My horse hates 99% of all male horses. There is only two hes ever liked, the rest he would just beat the c*** out of. He likes most mares though, the only one he ever went mad at was one that was to big for him to mount.......maybe he just didnt like her for that reason lol. Yeah he is a suspected rig by some people.

It's funny that you should mention them not liking coloured ponies in particular. My pony is terrified of coloured ponies, even to the stage where if we ride past a field of them, we end up on the other side of the road.

My vet said it could be the fact that they are not a solid colour, which makes it harder for horses to depict a solid outline of them and confuses them. Fascinating huh?

April takes very strong likings and dislikings to other horses.

My friend has a mare that she just adores and she tends to like most male horses, the tramp!

On the other hand though there are several horses that I would fear for their lives if she got in with them, especially around feeding time when it is exacerbated

mine hates anything that is over 17hh and grey... bit embarassing when he tried to go for local hunt sec's horse

mine seems to dislike anything that looks remotely like a horse! she has a particular dislike of otto though and tries to kick him at every opportunity she gets, but he doesnt like mares anyway.
