I have found a second hand pessoa saddle, the photo looked really good and have contacted the buyer who has told me it is 20 years old. Do you think that it would be too old and worn at that age?

Thanks

My favourite saddle is more than 20 years old, is in fantastic nick and has been well cared for. And I wouldn't sell it for the world! If it has been properly looked after it should be fine.

Thanks, the only other little worry I have is that he said he had everything taken to the minimum like knee rolls. Not sure how much this would be possible and how big a difference it would make. I primarily wanted a good jumping saddle that really helped ie. leg position.

All depends on the owner and how they have looked after it, I still use a Stubben thats about 30 years old and its still a good saddle. Just make sure the stitching is ok and you could get a nice saddle for not a lot of money :)

Ditto - I bought a Berney Dublin Jumper last year that is about 20 years old - had it reflocked and conditioned, and I wouldn't trade it for anything! The modest blocks/padding one of the things I like about it, as it puts my leg in a good position but doesn't interfere with feeling the horse. If it's a good price, in good nick and fits you and the horse, go for it.

If it's a foam panel it's highly likely that is has gone hard, flocking should be okay as obviously you can replace it easily, but a foam panel is a lot more expensive to replace.
