I want to get my horse a pessoa training aid as my intructor thinks this will really help my horse to engage his hind quarters.

Before I spend £90 on buying one does anyone know if the cheaper ones are any good like the John Whitaker one? or the cheaper one on Rideaway's site?

Any thought gratefully received.

Cheers

I have a 'kincade' one off ebay - 25quid i think.
Havent used it yet - waiting for lungepen to be built,,,, could be a while!!!

I think when you buy Pessoa you buy the stronger more roubst wheels and catches, thicker 'rope' and more elastic. and a slightly fluffier sheepskin (which trust me, doesnt stay white for long!!!)

For home use, one one horse, I'm sure the cheaper ones offer more value for money.

Save the money on a slightly cheaper one and spend some of the money you saved on a lunging lesson with it from the person who reccomended one to you - Knowing how to use it is very important - and reading the packet instructions just doesnt cut it! :)

Thank you thats fantastic advice! My boy can go a little crazy at times on the lunge (as he finds it difficult so once he builds the correct muscles will get better) If he breaks a cheap one I wont mind however if he broke an Actual Pessoa one Id be pretty annoyed!

Im going to do exactly that and buy a cheaper one and have a few lunging lessons with my instructor.

:)

Hey - how big is your horse?

I had used a pessoa with success and so bought one of the cheaper versions from ebay - and was too small to be any use despite my horse only being 15.3hh on tiptoes!
