a very dear friend of mine lost her pet daisy today under tragic circumstances. i have read so many lovely poems on here in similar circumstances and wonder if anyone can repost so i can pass on to her-many thanks

Time has taken me from you, although not far.
I'll be watching through the sunshine, and through the brightest star.

This was given to me when I lost my pony in september. It kinda helped me i think.

condolences to your friend.

I've heard many but this is my favourite -

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be,
So he put his arms around you, and whispered come with me.
With tearful eyes we watched, and saw you pass away,*
Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay.
Your golden heart stopped beating, hard working hooves at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best..

Don't Cry For The Horses, by Brenda Riley-Seymore

Don't cry for the horses
That life has set free
A million white horses
Forever to be

Don't cry for the horses
Now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance
To a heavenly band

They were ours as a gift
But never to keep
As they close their eyes
Forever to sleep

Their spirits unbound
On silver wings they fly
A million white horses
Against the blue sky

Look up into heaven
You'll see them above
The horses we lost
The horses we loved

Manes and tails flowing
They Gallop through time
They were never yours
They were never mine

Don't cry for the horses
They will be back someday
When our time has come
They will show us the way

On silver wings they will lift us
To the warmth of the sun
When our life is over
And eternity has begun

We will jump the sun
And dance over the moon
A Ballet of horses and riders
on the winds
to a heavenly tune

Do you hear that soft nicker
Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses
Love the ones that are here

Don't cry for the horses
Lift up your sad eyes
Can't you see them
As they fly by?

A million white horses
Free from hunger and pain
Their spirits set free
Until we ride again

This one always makes me cry :(

The Rainbow Bridge For Horses

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
when their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,
is a place where beloved creatures find rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed.
Their bodies have healed with strength imbued.

They trot through the grass without even a care,
til one day they whinny and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert.
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd.

For just at that second, there's no room for remorse.
As they see each other...one person...one horse.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past
The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart
has turned to joy once more in each heart.
They nuzzle with a love that will last forever.
And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together

hun i have read and been given so many beautiful poems over the years but rainbow bridge is just the most beautiful poem going - i have a smallgang of dogs cats and 2 horses waiting for me and we will re-unit :)

In Loving Memory...

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then you must do what must be done
For this, the last battle, can't be won.
You will be sad - I understand
Don't let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day more than all the rest
Your love and friendship stand the test.
We've had so many happy years
What is to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want to suffer so,
When the time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend
Only stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you too will see
It is a kindness you do to me...
