Was wasting time this morning looking at horses for sale (I am NOT buying:)), and find myself increasingly irked by people who do not know how to spell the breed of the horse they are selling.

So far this morning I have come across a "Hanoveron", several "Andalusions" (perhaps these are imaginary andalusians?) and even a "Cobb" - I mean, come on, you only have three letters and one syllable to deal with there:mad:

This got me thinking - am I the only one who reads this things and gets so annoyed by them - I understand that it is an advertisement and not a spelling competition, but it does look like utter muppetry and makes me wonder what level of knowledge the advertiser has about the breed they are selling.

Wrong spellings for most things are passable (I don't expect everyone to be able to spell half the breed names out there) but on a sales ad.... google it if you have to!!!

I will also instantly click off an advert typed ALL IN CAPITALS or in txt spk.

Pan

I dislike misspellings, especially in adverts - it just looks unprofessional. People make snap judgements based on spelling, dress, speech. Spellchecker is freely available - it takes minutes to check and it does beg the question why don't they bother?

Confirmation instead of conformation *sigh*

Also... Palomino is spelt Pal 'O' mino not Pal 'A' mino or Pal 'I' mino

must stop browsing horses for sale ;)

ETA must email BD as I find it a tad annoying that my horse is registered as a Palamino when he is Palomino :(

I couldn't tell you if Appiano was the right way of spelling it in all honesty! Have a mare that colour, there's 'pintaloosa' down for colour, but no 'Appiano' so had to tick 'Other' and right down her colour. If it's wrong, then sue me lol.

But yes, appalling punctuation and spelling irks me in adverts!

At the local Pets at Home store a few months ago in the puppies for sale section was an ad for some Chiwawa puppies...... Unbelievable!!!

text speak frustrates me in any circumstance.

I can forgive poor spelling

I find it quite funny though that there are spelling mistakes in a few of the posts here moaning about poor spelling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
