Thanks

Not sure about Pet Plan but NFU pay all of nursing care and half of livery so would imagine most would do similar. have a look in your policy schedule it should tell you there.

It depends how it's worded on the bill - they won't pay stabling, but may pay hospitalisation, if that makes sense?

Talk to the equine hospital people. They can break down the "livery" side of your bill into NURSING and HOTEL costs. So bog standard livery eg shavings, mucking out etc you have to pay for but anything remotely linked to ned's health care the insurance would cover.

they pay 50% stable and 50% nursing care as just had a horse out of liphook. cost me for 5 nights and 6 days £162 (i had to pay) petplan paid the rest, Also Liphook policy is, if your vet is not one of there's you have to pay ALL the money when you collect the horse then claim it back from yr insurance company

as they "vet" check all their own clients, and not out-siders and have been "stung" too many times in the past so this is their new policy.

As Gucci B said, they will pay 50% of the livery costs. They paid out for half of mine after a stay at Leahurst...though I had to pay the hospital in full and then claimed back what I could from PP. If you read through your terms and conditions booklet it should be stated in there.... or give their Customer Service Department a call to clarify!

omg, no chance of me paying when I pick him up, its gonna be a few thou! I am getting the insurance to agree to pay it in advance so I know that they will deff pay!
Will speak to Liphook, thanks

Get a pro forma claim form, from pet plan, or a claim form and write pro forma on the top pages, and your vet to sign it, then fax/scan it off to pet plan.... takes 24/48hrs turn around to agree the claim in Principal, and you a chance to talk to Liphook about the costs, don't forget yr excess £115. p.m me if you need any more info

hiya
I have sent the pro forma off today to liphook so they are going to write an estimation of costs and sent it to petplan so they can agree it. Hope they do or otherwise he will have to be put down

Nfu paid half mine and they paid the transport fees too.

Yep and that's why I went with them over Petplan as they won't!

You do have to pay before you take the horse, but I put mine on Credit card (was over £3k and told the NFU they needed to pay me before the bill was due, they paid well within time and I had a cheque in less than 2 weeks. Don't know about Petplan though.
