I thought I would post something positive for a change as we are all quick to complain about insurance companies but they are not all bad guys! Just received a cheque to cover vet fees for my young horse - as well as my normal practice fees for x rays etc they have paid the full MRI cost, physio costs, cosequin and a contribution towards remedial farriery. As a result of getting a proper diagnosis we have been able to follow the correct treatment and shoeing protocol and she is now back in work (1st competition for 6 months yesterday which she won with 71.5%

I was a bit nervous about submitting the claim as they paid out 2 claims on my last horse, and eventualy LOU. I have to say I have found them brilliant in all respects and hope I won't get slated for giving them a plug on here .

Oh and apologies if my claims history pushes everyone else's premiums up next year

I have to say, made a claim with petplan a few years ago (horse fractured leg in field, had about 4 months of treatments / living at vets etc etc and was then PTS

) and they paid out all of the vets fees and value of horse with absolutely no hassle. They really were fantastic at a very upsetting time. I have used them ever since although I don't insure for vets bills anymore but that has nothing to do with them, just a personal choice!

They took ages to pay me when Cat died, despite my vet agreeing with their vet ie a personal conversation, before he was pts. I got v upset each time I rang them, which really wasn't very nice.

Also when I was trying to insure Adrian, they 'lost' THREE dd forms, blaming the post, so his 5 stage went out of date & I had to pay £75 for a 'mortality cert'. I was livid, but they didn't give a f**k. Decided to stay with them cos I've had 2 big claims for Cat & a big claim each for his predecessors & can't be bothered explaining it all to a new insurer.

Have you rung them up? I have always got the money within weeks: the biggest delay is always getting my vets to send the form off, though they got much better after I told them I wouldnt be able to pay my bill until I'd got he insurance cheque!

Glad you've had a good experience with them!!

I had to make a claim after being with them for 3 months, they did pay out eventually. But they kept saying they had lost the forms so i ended up having to get my vet to do 3 in the end. The 3rd one managed to get there!! They also then wanted my horses full vets life history & vaccination history. Luckly i have everything from the day i bought that horse, but Petplan did wriggle quite badly about paying out. Got me quite annoyed how much i had to provide them & i bet if i hadnt i wouldnt of got my payout.

So a word of advice keep everything you have to do with your horses paperwork wise it may help with a claim.

I've always found them excellent for paying out. Nice to hear from other satisfied claimants.

Im really happy to hear that, Lance is nearly 19 and although he is covered for vets fees with PPE, Ive never had to claim so its great to know they are as good as Id hoped!

Have always found them good to deal with as well.Have always paid claims no questions asked.Even paid LOU on horse before she was freezemarked as such due to Farmkey not coming up my way for 4 months.
