Pet plan

My results are still not up either

Ours was aug. bank holiday ,I suppose the venue is late sending results,BE get them on the next day but BD seem to take for ever, I suppose it is done completely differently and down to the venues but not sure why it takes a month. I know there are more shows but BE put all the results, good or bad on so quickly. There are hundreds from each event to go on but they are up next day!

Weston lawns, luckily we hardly ever do aff. dressage or I would loose track of points, must get out and do some novice winter qualifiers, done prelim ones but haven't even thought about the novice ones.Doing comb. training at Weston in couple of weeks but not entered winter qualifier as want to do 2 levels of comb.training.

my marks aren't online from the middle of August yet..... i know the venues can be slow at sending results in, but it really does take the p*ss sometimes. They should do something about it.

I always kept a note of my points myself because as you say they are very slow, either the shows/venue or BD and once you start to clock up your points you have to be careful that you do not do go over your allocated allowance in that class or you get fined!!!!! Tut!!! and yes, as everyone has said.... you get points for Pet Plan... and hopefully prizes!!!!

i didnt get prizes in either of my petplans this year, last year and the year before i got money. When i won the prelim AF in 05 i got £50 worth of gift vouchers for Inchs aswell.....

I can't understand why they takes so long.I think they only put on placed horses, but I may be wrong about that[ please correct me]In BE all the scores go up on your record and they must be super efficient as they are on the next day.I thought BD were going to get a bit more efficient with the new web site but ,sorry ,it seems just as bad.

NO PRIZE, you know that was my bug bear, you get prize money for the warm up and nothing for the area final and I can't understand that. Why do the organisers have to give money for the ordinary classes but not the pet plan.Maybe Troi will spot this post and be able to inform us.
Or maybe she is posting results on the website.
THINK I WILL BE IN TROUBLE FOR THAT.
PLEASE SUPPORT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i understand that its up to the organiser as to whether they give money or not, even in the petplans. Like i said at some venues i went to in 05/06 they gave money/gifts in the petplans, but the two venues ive been to this year haven't.

i thought the new website was going to be better aswell, but we've still got the same old problem with getting results up as there was with the old site

I find it really backwards- the speed in which BD operate!
I have ( unintentionally) gained too many points on a horse and got myself in a pickle because we weren't eligible ( by 3 points) - however the BD website was about 2 months behind with our points- and had allocated us points for a show approx 150 miles away, and a level we don't compete at, and hadn't attended. It took a lot of hassle to get that sorted!
I think BE are a lot more organised due to their scoring system at events where the info is directly transferable to BE with minimal fiddling around with data. I'm always impressed by the speed they get results ( and interim results ) up.

For once my BD record is up to date, the only one that is missing is Merrist Wood but that was only on Saturday.

It does the mick actually how slow they are with results, especially as some horses will clock up points very quickly and can imagine that it must be easy to then lose track.

A number of points to answer.

Results
Firstly, and most importantly, if you think that a venue has sent in their results to BD but they are not on the web, then ring BD and (politely) ask them to check. There are three possible answers

a) the venue hasn't actually sent in the results

b) the venue has sent them but they haven't arrived - and that can happen as they can be sent by email, fax or post

c) they have been sent, have been put on the back office database, but something has gone wrong with the feed to the web.

Whichever is the reason, BD can't do anything to help you if you don't tell them there is a problem.

The results that are shown are those which earn points or, if a low scoring class, the top 3.

The reason there is a big variance in posting results is very much down to the varying methods in how they come into the office. BD very much want to put in a direct entry system whereby venues link directly to the office, which will speed things up enormously for the competitor and make life easier for all concerned. That is still "on the cards" though and, even if (when) it is developed, it will be optional.

Record keeping
Freestyler has the right idea - keep a record yourself as a final check. It really isn't too onerous - write it in a notebook, or the technical amongst you can create a spreadsheet. Even if you leave before the end of a class, most people wait until they know their score. And if the venue is being appallingly slow posting scores, you really can't blame BD for that!

Apart from anything else, if you don't keep your own records, how will you know if there has been an input error? Take personal responsibility for your own record keeping.

smerls - I am surprised there was "hassle" in sorting out your problem. A similar thing happened to me some years ago - and before I was a little more involved - when I was promoted to Group 3 by virtue of "winning" a PSG. Which was quite a feat as I hadn't competed above Novice at that stage. One phone call was all that was needed to get it amended.

Finally, regarding the disparity between BE & BD results, don't forget that, whilst there may be far more entrants per individual BE event than BD ones -

a) BE has a direct reporting system

b) on average there are more BD competitions in a month than BE ones a year.

Petplan classes
Yes they earn points.

No, there is no prize money provided by the sponsor - but only because the total package that Petplan provide (for 15 AFs and the April Championship) is already very generous indeed. Provision of prize money is therefore down to the individual venues running the AFs.

Thanks Troi... I will email them in the morning as I do know that BD have received the results from R.E.C as the person who replied to my email said we have received the results but not imputed them onto the system. That was the first week of September so I would have thought they would have been up by now as it says 5 days on the site if I am correct so suspect something must have gone wrong.

I think having the venues imput their own results is a very good idea... this would enable competitors to check their results on the website much sooner than they can at the moment. After events have been run, you often cannot get hold of people there to find out where you have been placed, so having easy access to this via the BD website would be a very welcomed addition.
