Was in Sunderland today and went in a pet shop. Thay actually had staffie puppies in a glass box for sale! Saddest thing I have ever seen. Would have bought them if I didn't think they'd just fill the box with more puppies, but can't stop thinking about the poor little babies :(

I've seen puppies and kittens for sale in Harrods, behind glass. Think they are on display for short perods of time, but must admt I was shoced to see them

It was Emersons Pet Shop, just off Sunderland high street I think. I really think something should be done and I will be 100% behind anything. Have looked on kc website and nothing!! Please avoid this shop. If anyone knows the appropriate avenues this can be stopped through then please let me know. Do you think I should buy said puppies????

I knew which shop you where on about, they have sold puppies and kittens for years, they have also been brought up before:rolleyes:
iTS PEOPLE WHO ARE TOO GOD damn IGNORANT TO PAY THE PITTANCE TO SPAY THEIR BITCH, (AS THEY WILL NO DOUBT BE ON BENEFITS, SO COULD GET A VOUCHER) FOR £25 POXY QUID, BUT ITS EASIER TO LET THE BITCH HAVE THEM, and of course cuteness sells, they will be a definate for the pound in 6 months time.

When I had an environemtal visit the officer showed me the displeasure of dealing with licencing selling puppies he also mentioned if there was a lareg enough petittion handed to them (environmental health) they could actively do something about it) but as it stands they never have.

(Sorry re caps lock above, im not shouting promise):D

So maybe a petitiion is the way foward, and a letter accompanying it, in regard to the stress, health and safety (handling un vaxed puppies as in a large number of the public who want to hold and sroke them) the fact anyone can buy one, and also how they are left from 6pm till the next day of trade unsupervised and unchecked, which is a disgrace and the encouragement of irrisponsibe selling of live animals.

There are two puppies right now that I know of, going to write a letter in the am to the council. But really, two babies there now??? I told name of pet shop in the hope that everyone knows of them now!!!!!!

How is this legal?

The environmental officer I soke to said they have had odds and sods of letter but never a petittion with "numbers" on it.

I think you should set one away, you will be more organised than me:o

Is the face book one a petittion for that actual pet store?

sorry I cannot egt access to FB from where I am.

Basically becise environemtnal health are so ill icuipt(sp) (in this area) Im in sunderland, well I work in this area and live in Durham.
So basically enviro do ntohing but check and license and wont argue with a vet, and the vet that I assume is on the panel to help licence such things as it made up of a panel of well vet, and a few others not even animal experienced and the vet on that panel is their vet, (i.e the pet stores vet) so they are signed off as checked, its actually harder to get my boarding licence that it is for that per store to get one.

As complaints have never been handed in in a sheer number they can do diddly squat about it.
Im sure he even mentioned the RSPCA have no right to enter without police, as the RSPCA where checking them frequently, no doubt that has stopped now, prob screamed harrasment of some sort.

There should only be specialist breeders , or breeding projects under a societies rules allowed to breed pedigree puppies and cross bred licencing should only go ahead under guidance .
Puppy farmers and farming should be out lawed, there are enough pedigree pet puppies available from breeders without relying on back street cut price pups. Pet shop sale a definate no!! I think that for any shop selling animals.

Disgusting! I'm guessing you can't get a full refund or exchange if you have the receipt and the poor thing is sick/dead/wrecking your house *delete as appropriate*
