How much would you charge to look after a dog for a week - Monday after work to Sunday lunch?

i offered to look after a colleagues dog to save her going into kennels as she was not keen on putting her in there (we look after other peoples dogs sometimes and enjoy it)

other time they have been friends and they have taken us out for meals to say thanks which is fine, but she would like to pay us, but dont know what to say.

Dog will be with ours in our house and will have 2 big walks a day (and lots of playing with ours)

TBH - I've found being paid for dog-sitting is more hassle than being paid in kind (i.e a meal out)! Generally, I've done it as a favour to friends, but last time I was dog and house sitting (and they also gave me use of their car). I got £10 a day as this was less than our local kennels and factored in the car insurance. They left me a fridge full of food and several bottles of wine so probably would work out to £15 a day max? I'd give the local kennels a call and see what they charge per day and go from there.

A piece of advice I was given was, if I was getting paid, was to have a written contract and to get public liability insurance. Not sure if this applies to you but something to think about? Things get more complicated when money changes hands Hope that helps!

When I dogsat (1 dog, a whippet) I didn't charge in the formal sense but I got £10 a day for the one dog and reimbursed for any food bills, though they shipped him with the wrong food (instead of being honest and saying he eats cooked chicken the sent cans that he wouldn't eat ). I was only gonna say about £8 a day but they offered ten (plus the money the chicken cost me) I personally wouldn't be inclined to go over 10 for a friend

I dog-sit on a regular basis but I think I'm too cheap! I charge £10 per night per dog (although clients I've had for some time get my old rate of £10 per night for one dog, £15 per night for two). One client regularly rings me at 8.50am asking me to take "the girls" from 9am for the day - for which I charge £10 for both dogs (as a job lot - not per dog) and they are so badly behaved that it's bloody hard work! I look after some dogs which are so lovely that I don't even know they're there and I don't want them to go home, and others (as already mentioned) that are such hard work (barking, howling, jumping up, harassing my cats, no recall etc) that I wonder why I bother! I have about a dozen "regulars" and there are about four or five which I can honestly say I'd happily adopt - lovely, lovely dogs - but the others........ Some are literally out of control - SO spoilt and undisciplined! When they all go home and we just have our five, it's so PEACEFUL! Really makes me appreciate how good my dogs are!

Ok, I take dogs into my own home and charge £16 for the first dog and half for the second, most dogs I take are in 2's or 3's and they are all perfectly behaved once that door is shut and mammy and daddy have gone, they are almost like an extention of my pack (I cannot say I have ever had a bad experience) I am insured and have a license, My OH also walks dogs during the day and trains them for other people, he charges £10 per hour, so that gives ya a rough guide.
Although at first I thought I was expensive the nearest home boarding in my area is I think barking mad (I think) and one of my clients used them and was paying I think £25-£30 per night and half for a second dog, she was not happy becuase she was not allowed to see where the dog was going the franchise picked the dog up £20 each way and dropped off, but they had no idea where it went
